What a master, I thank the blessing to have been with him and so sad to realize again and again he is not with us... RIP brother.

I still miss him saying "Hi, Eric here", when introducing his monthy CD column for Guitar Techniques magazine. Great transcriptions and music. --Van

I miss Eric - a true inspiration to me. Sometimes I can feel his presence in the things I play, a small piece of immortality perhaps, but one that I treasure.

Eric taught me guitar in the 1990's. Convinced me to buy a Lowden by his beautiful playing. Only found recently he died he was a beautiful person who once in my sitting played his composition the 3rd field. I have not nor will not ever forget that. My love goes to his family David Walsh

Eric was a lovely young man. I had the privilege of knowing him a little. My wife used to babysit his sister. Terrible shame to lose him so young.

I discovered eric and his music only a few month ago... and now I have to realize that he's gone. I hope his music will give him immortality...the best leave us too soon...(some teardrops and sadness).

This is the first time I've seen Eric Roche play. I'm gobsmacked. (and I've seen Preston Reed and other slapping and tapping "virtuosos".) Passion is what its all about, every time.

Thanks for posting this, its the closest to the performance he gave at the 2004 workshop. It demonstrates the total passion he had for his playing.

He was the most relaxed laid back person you could ever meet. I knew him through his wife Candy as I used to work with her. His outlook on life was amazing & his music was wonderful. At least I can cherish his music through his albums now. He signed all my CD's in his own cheeky style, that is something i can treasure in years to come as a friend of his.

Reminds me of Michael Hedges' cover of this song. Also reminds of how I "discovered" Hedges after he had already died--I just found out about Roche today. Another great guitarist, and another great loss. Thanks for sharing this video.

I didn't realise until today that he had died. I was looking through my old CDs the other day and there he is. Oh. I use to see him pre 2000 down at Pissaros. RIP. Will listen to your album later.

The greatest! I went to a tribute concert in a little theatre in Sleaford Lincs - just after he died. His Dad was over from Ireland. I wish I hadn't been so English and self conscious and tried to say to his Dad -even cack handedly how much Eric's music had meant to me. So theres a lesson for you young 'uns - don't be stand offish. Express your feelings! Otherwise you regret it!

My mate was a student at ACM around 11-12 years ago and told me about Eric. I then got the pleasure of seeing him live at the Birmingham Music Live event and he blew me away. Massive influence on Newton Faulkner and the like and still sorely missed.

Gareth Owen I saw him at Music Live too... in 1995, I think. I was just walking round the hall and he was playing his Teen Spirit cover in front of one of the booths. I didn't even stop to listen as I had an older friend in tow, who didn't really get him. I've kicked myself ever since...

I met him at the Acoustic Guitarist of the Year contest back in 2001. Never knew why I got to be a finalist (allowing an underdog to perform?) but he was one of the judges. I asked him how his parents thought listening to him learning in his bedroom. He laughed and said "My father used to shout upstairs - 'Turn those f*@king drums down'" lol!
