R. De Leeuw, rest in peace and thanks for all your beautiful interpretations of Satie's dreaming pieces. Greetings from Rome Italy. Thanks for sharing this.

The first is one of my favorite pieces. I love its dreamlike, meandering quality, and the quiet sense of solitude it brings to my mind.

I'm not a musician and know nothing about piano. All I can tell is that this piece is magical. I don't know why.maybe it has some eastern touch to it. It accossiates me to where I was born, Azerbaijan?! It's just magical and beautiful.

This is the definitive version of this. So many other pianists rush parts that cant be rushed or bang the keys too hard. This is soft subtle haunting and perfect throughout

oui sans doute la plus juste interprétation dans sa lenteur contemplative et presque extatique pour notre écoute, c'est ce que voulu sans doute le compositeur!

This "Gnossienne 1" is a very good example of why i like Klára Körmendi's version so much. Satie wrote "Lent", not "Mort".
@HaroldHivart3 жыл бұрын
I prefer this version... even if it's very sad..
@skpkp35363 жыл бұрын
Funny thing, I personaly don't consider Klara's version "lent".. and I cherish this one because it suits my interpretation of "lent". But that's precisely the variety of interpretations Satie hoped for, otherwise he would have just written a more precise indication.. Which, in his style, would have probably come out as something like "at the speed it takes a thought to reach the hands in a night of october (no one's lived)" hahaha

@@skpkp3536 Much of the beauty of being human is this little obsession of ours to focus and debate things that are completely meaningless to our natural path, to our survival, but that are so important to our own worlds. We, tyrannical rulers of the planet, drinking beauty from minuscule cups and comparing the flavours. To me this version is so "lento, ma proprio troppo", so atrociously slow, that i'm starting to find the beauty of it :)
@skpkp35363 жыл бұрын
That is one beautiful comment, sir, and I'll drink to that. I wish you a marvelous life, zigzagging through the wonders of the frequencies we value so highly. Abraço forte.

Eine der schwächsten Interpretationen die ich bisher gehört habe. Kaum Variation, schade.
@timdebruijne9127 Жыл бұрын
@PatriceFitzgerald Жыл бұрын
But how can you say there is no variation?! This pianist is not playing a slavish interpretation of the rigid notes, but shading and slowing or speeding them up to create a powerful presentation unique to his own feelings about the piece. Nicht schade-es ist wunderbar!
