To post a non-joking answer, and I very much want us to figure out animal communication too, I think it's not the same grammar, anyway. The thoughts are simpler or more impulsive. Even if they could use words it would not be equivalent to our ability to form full sentences and concepts. Other than that, I'm with you. I so badly wish we could understand other species better
