I'm with Eric on ranking the campaigns. I've been playing since the Carcosa cycle, and I've gone through Dunwich maybe 15 times now and it's still my favorite. Circle Undone is tied with Forgotten Age for my No. 2, so I'm very interested to see him go through that.

I'm a huge fan of Circle Undone. To me, it is the quintessential Arkham cosmic horror experience and makes the dread palpable. I think Eric could really vibe with it.

After considering it for a while, I think I've settled on the idea that you are meant to all die on the first expedition. You play the first 2 scenario's, get wiped out because you're unprepared for the new rules - then you come back as a new expedition picking up where the original group failed, with better knowledge of the new mechanics, and what to do / not to do / what supplies are worth taking etc.

100% agree with this

Eric started playing AH much later than me and as already played more AH than me. I’m a failure.

Eric has the benefit of having a friend who has a job of playing Arkham. Lol

I am with you, bro! I got in on this game when it first started and I have collected everything up to the Scarlett Keys, but I still haven't found the time to play past the Path to Carcosa campaign. Life is my Mythos Deck.

Is Eric going to join the group of 3 for the initial Hemlock Vale playthrough?

TFA is sooo hard and punishing. Personally, i still prefer PtoC over TFA. The explore mechanic is really harsh but the change in the return box, which could be easily implemented, made TFA more fun.

This is my bane. First try both investigators were defeated on the campsite, never got another location, restarted. Next time got 2 other locations before being defeated, restarted. Tried solo with Dreamy Ursula and got to City of Archives before failing a test getting 3 damage and being defeated, got pissed off and never tried it again. I should go back and continue from City of Archives as that was the only defeat for Ursula, but even with the altered Return To stuff it's just constant damage raining down on you every step of the way. You can take more damage from camping overnight that from a scenario! That's just not right.

I would vote on Dark Matter sooner rather than later with the hooks back to Path to Carcosa. Maybe after TCU?

I've been thinking that I like the OG Explore mechanic more and it's nice to see other people thinking the same. Maybe it's because I'm used to play Wendy and thinning out the explore deck is something she's very good at and is a great way for her to contribute, especially if she didn't draw her Lockpicks. It's a great way to someone resilient to contribute to moving the game state forward. The conceal mechanic does the way thing and so does driving/boating/opening up the map in Innsmouth.

I think which path you went down between Ichtaca and Alejandro is going to be pretty heavily correlated with group size. You have to parley with Ichtaca (player) times, whereas she always has a static 4 health. In 1 or 2 players is much easier to parley her and in 3 or 4 players it's just easier to kill her.

Doing my first Return to TFA....cleared scenario 1 with 4 vengeance, Luke and Bob. DoE Luke got killed, went back with Bob and Jacqueline, Bob and Jacqueline got killed : 0 Dexter and Silas resigned from Threads of Fate and found no paths in The Boundary Beyond (0XP) Defeated in the first play of Heart of Elders, no pillars. Replayed Heart of Elders, found 1 pillar, both defeated. Guess I just have to play Heart of Elders another 5 times!

I'd love a Mass Effect type analysis of how many people sided with Alejandro. It's not quite on the level of players who threw rocks at the interracial couple in Bioshock Infinite, but it's not that far away either.

I think I'm of a similar mind to Eric in terms of Forgotten Age, not liking the theme etc. I'm not a big fan of the jungle stuff in Lovecraft but this campaign managed to overcome it quite a bit for me. I do like the world travelling stuff though, generally, obviously it can be badly executed in a story/campaign but I love the idea of going through various locations on kinda road trip or whatever or in Carcosa how you go to Paris and then... well Carcosa obviously. I think specifically with Forgotten Age yeah, they did balls up the "siding with different sides" thing, as you say, you're not giving Alejandro the time of day. Personally Forgotten Age has two scenarios I love and then the most scenarios I'm kinda "eh" on of the campaigns. Depths of Yoth and Threads of Fate are fantastic.
