Eric is a MASTER at trying to sound wise about things he knows nothing about. He conflates topics he knows little about by trying to wrap it up in mathematics, a thing he is a genius at. While on topics that have to do with his actual expertise, he is spot on except for economics, which he is a brain dead liberal actually trying to apply feelings to reality, as if we have to stop doing what WORKS because its in his eyes, lacking in humanity...ugh. Every single thing he said here that had to do with music is a perfect example, talking about how since he doesnt care about a song a person wrote with lyrics about "Swiping right", it means musicians CANT write music that connects with the times...no Eric, it means you are OLD in your head because you are so focused on yourself you are not looking at EVIDENCE in the WORLD outside your mind. The songs connect with the younger people they are made for. He does not have his finger on the pulse of the populace. The he talks about how there is proof we are losing our meaning because no one cares about guitarists anymore even though some of the greatest guitarists of all time are active today....that shit, is his disconnect. No one cares about guitarists like they did in the 70s because they are no longer the focus musically. The past...when no one cared about MCs/Rappers but today they are world famous, or how before the 1970s few even knew that DJs can make music and today they rules the world and EDM is all over the place. He cannot wrap his head around the fact he is getting old and disconnected and cannot understand the younger generations. Or how about him using the "Troll section of Reddit" as proof of "us not believing in anything"...trolls? Using what TROLLS say as proof of a thing... Trolling is a art form...and they got Eric hook line and sinker. And he says the bit at 1:09:00 because he knows he is doing it and wants to appear as if its ok to be wrong sometimes, even though he is wrong a LOT of times. He used to stick to expertise, now he is wading into social commentary and he is too disconnected for it, he has neither the knowledge or personal experience. He should go back to sticking to what he knows, his talks used to be great.

Agree, this is probably the best interview format to get the max out of Eric. There is a lot of intelligence and humor at the hosts' part as well and that helps to keep Eric focussed. Love Eric's view on society's issues longer time. Much more hopeful than the vision our current globalists NGO's envision and enforce. There is room for a win-win-win solution for people, elites and Earth. The one thing you might say about Eric is that he hasn't done the correct analysis of WHY physics is stalling and whether that is deliberate or not. The reason behind our stagnation in physics is not in complex (math) theories we haven't figured out yet, it is in the old theories we take for granted. 100 years ago we discovered useful mathematical correlations (QP, GR and SR). But make no mistake; These brilliant mathematically correct correlations do NOT equal correct physical causations. Eric should go back and reconsider before adding stuff. If Nobel laureate Penrose says we should substitute E=hf (Plank) into E=MC2 (Einstein) to get the true fundamental meaning of mass being a CLOCK in the QP world, then Eric should take that seriously. We can NOT go on claiming 'mass equals energy' (Einstein) whilst also claiming 'mass equals inverse time' (Penrose). We must take a side. Eric needs to pick the right interpretation if we want to progress. Spoiler alert; Penrose is right. Einstein was not. Really hope Eric finds the courage to go back al the way to SR (where it all begins) and rethink the consequences.

It’s also worth noting that one of the ideas in eastern philosophy is actually experiencing the moment instead of being identified with thought and distraction. To actually see reality for what it is and be at peace. Hunter gatherers spent all thier time trying to not starve to death. Now we do t have that “purpose” and “meaning.” Because we are in an environment that doesn’t match our instincts we can’t blindly follow them to a sense of well being. We also have the ability to understand science and evolution. So we don’t get to believe in fantasy stories to give our life “meaning” either. Dealing with this IS our quest. Seeing clearly and finding a way to peace, not in fantasy, or through existential problems that distract us, is our “Great War.” The purpose of life is genetic replication. There is no god. Don’t run from reality. Peace is found within.

Excellent episode. I've been feeling less connection and meaning in lots of my hobbies as of late. I could put it down to growing older. I'm 36 next month, and still a huge video game fan. I don't find that escapism as much as I used to. And that could be because modern videogames are just getting worse in quality.... But when I have that free time to unwind, I don't always feel i'm getting that escapism anymore. Same with listening to music. When I find an artist or album that DOES take me to another place, I replay it over and over. Squeeze all the dopamine out of it and then it doesn't have the same effect as it once did. Could also be that I'm distracted by every little bleep and flash from my phone. I absolutely believe i've some form of addiction, and I really want to be rid of that.

I'm a recovering video game addict, would spend 16 hours a day playing, fast forward and I'm 29 and still living with my parents. No friends, no girlfriend, no high school diploma. I decided to join the Marines and I've been working out every day, studying, and haven't opened steam once. Not saying join the military but you need to find something that you value enough to spend time doing that over playing DOTA or Overwatch, which won't solve a single problem in your life.

A key phrase that helped me is this "Addiction is when the behaviour gets in the way of you doing something else that you'd rather be doing." So when you're on a losing streak just stop and think "would I rather be doing something else right now but I feel like I have to keep playing?". Applies to everything. If you listen to podcasts or music nonstop think "is this getting in the way of me thinking"

@@Taunt61who is going to call him an idiot considering how well he performs with the upper levels of integrative math systems. He prefers over- divergent infodump analogies in explanation and doesnt care if he explains well either, but because he keeps re-attempting simple analogies (which he made primarily for himself), this has the effect of making you feel bad for not getting it. That and he tends to play the victim a lot so I can only handle him in small doses, but still he does have interesting ways of putting things. I guess he must have learned these bad habits from an intellectual narcissist at some early stage in his life.. Same. The open source ones aren’t. If you have a half decent graphics card you can run a fully uncensored, and I mean fully, LLM locally. Stable Diffusion is also uncensored. Running parallel to Google and OpenAI is the open source community, in some ways backed by Facebook of all things, since they released Llama essentially open source. There are also billionaires backing these developments. Machine learning researchers are not what you think, the “wokeness” of OpenAI and Google is to get the media and the Democratic Party off their backs, because their institutions power is the only set of people the AI builders view as a threat.

@collinbarryif this is true, the the liberal left and democrats need to removed from the picture entirely. This should never be in the hands of politicians and alot more safe guards is needed. With regards to AI and machine learning they have yet to lay open how mankind and jobs will be managed. They tanking forward with we will fix that later. Humanity not machines are what's important, they have left alot to chance and I don't see AI being beneficial as the left have already completely weaponized it.

I enjoyed the depth of the music conversation but there is depth in music today. There’s pain and longing in songs like Future’s Hardly, smino’s album Luv 4 Rent is one of the best projects released in years, there is substance and raw emotion but it isn’t rooted in the same places historically as the music they reference. But there are legitimate expressions of the human experience being created and released every day.

Well, I do know that Yuval Harari (pretty much a Doomer, although not as severe a one as Eliezer Yudkowsky) watches a lot of Netflix and is obsessed with discussing his favourite tv programs with his partner. @@hugh-johnfleming289 I don’t want to get into a deep philosophical debate about economics… But, suffice it to say, communism has historically proven to be an abysmal failure. Socialism, however (not the same as communism), has proven useful in certain limited applications. (For example)… Federal, State, and Local roads and highways. Military Defence. Public education (although both the left and right are trying their hardest to ruin that, if they haven’t already destroyed it). Etc., etc. I am not advocating for a greater roll for socialism. I am instead, advocating for a modified form of capitalism. Capitalism encourages innovation and growth, and we don’t want to lose that. We just need to figure out how capitalism can be more inclusive, rather than exclusive, as is the case most often experienced today. This is going to be a “tough nut to crack”, but crack it we must.

This whole thing was an infomercial for ai disguised as an interview with a ‘genius’ to prep the public or at least the target demographic this channel caters to, other groups have different influencers. You don’t get to go on the biggest podcasts (like Rogan) unless you’re part of the System. The ai-mind meld/singularity has been scheduled to roll out for a looong time now, I feature a govt report from 2002 on this plan in my 2016 vid on Robots. It’s all controlled by the military/intelligence just like all the big tech platforms and the whole wwwiretap developed by darpa. People like him and musk are just frontmen. The tech is far more advanced and has already been reading the private thoughts of the public mind for decades. Dr Giordano at West Point admitted on video years ago they are doing this and targeting people.

I don't know, but I think we are more and more surprised when confronted by individuals who have taken time to become educated on a wide array of subjects. My goal has been 2 hrs of education for myself per day. I'm 40 and starting to find boomers less and less of a challenge to debate and contradict with published facts that I can point to. Unfortunately, most young adults are not putting in the time to do this. To have a conversation of value, one must be able to speak intelligently about science, philosophy, mathematics, art, culture, religion, AI, and geopolitical/ local politics, to name a few.

But, all my life, for instance, until very recently, I was the most optimistic person I knew :) (verified by most others who know me); lately even I have become disenchanted. I would never give in and be pessimistic, I know better. But, we’ve lost language, meaning, most have lost their inherent sense of immortality; what are we supposed to make art with and what for? It’s not things (be they apps or websites) that we lack. We apparently haven’t not only found the digital life worth art-making, I think we at our heart of hearts know that it has ruined us; I think we hate it despite its utility or convenience. Cars or bridges or letters didn’t control our lives. The digital age has. Glued in and alienated at the same time. What does one do with that except disconnect?

That was a lot of wisdom and thought provoking for one interview. That man does not disappoint. I can’t think of a peer with Weinstein’s intellect who is asking the questions you didn’t even know needed asking. He can say things in a way that changes the way you think about them. His honesty is so refreshing. You almost never see that because most speakers are beholden in some way to an institution or the company they lead. Weinstein is so rich he doesn’t need anything from anybody, but you wouldn’t know that because he never mentions it. He calls out the BS and reframes the conversation in ways that create an opening for more inquiry. Great stuff.
