@@ftwgaming9786 no doubt. The unorthodox rhythms coupled with nuanced entrances definitely make for a wild ride in the process of putting this beautiful piece together

Any advice for someone singing this in a month

you should see the way he directs from the front. he doesn't give a regular downbeat like everyone else, but puts his emotion into it. and yet it's so incredibly easy to follow. I loved working with him because of that.

I really cannot help myself. I smile so much when I hear this song. Whitacre does a great job of expressing Cummings' syntactic idiosyncrasies in song. I love it I love it I love it!

i just got back from singing this song, among 8 other eric whitacre songs and dirait-on by morten lauridsen. in Carnegie Hall! Under the direction of Eric Whitacre! (and Morten Lauridsen played piano on Dirait-on)

Oh, hey! I'm in the all nw honor choir for march. I wish I had the opportunity to sing this! Perhaps in the future. ee cummings is my favorite poet and Whitacre is one of my favorite composers. I hope you had a great time at your honor choir!

Very interesting piece, very unique in Whitacre's catalog, and DEVILISHLY difficult to sing cleanly and up to speed. Deceptively difficult, even. To my ears, even this professional (internationally recognized) group sounds less than 100% confident on some of the entrances and transitions. It's a work that definitely requires the utmost dedication and attention to detail in order to be performed with any success.

Bout to perform this with my choir in front of other schools in my district. Rhythms are the hardest thing and my section doesn't even have the notes right. Wish me luck XD

Im so jealous that all north west did this. This is one of my favorite songs. All state was fun but it should have been more fib at all northwest

Wow, even with Whitacre himself conducting a professional choir they didn't do the rhythm at 2:53 right. The last three notes of the "enter enter enter enter" measure are three eighth notes, not a dotted eighth and two eighth notes. I haven't found a single recording that gets it right. (That is, unless it's just a misprint in my music and not what he intended. There might be another version that has it differently...)

It because it sounds weird like that and goes better with the flow of the song the way he does it. He’s the composer so he can do whatever the hell he wants lol
