I know EXACTLY what you meant by "black and white ... technicolor". I was in choral and concert choir in high school and it was ...fun. the voices were okay, and the music was pretty, but it was kind've plodding if you get my meaning. And then I was lucky enough to audition and make it into my state's "All State Classical Vocals". It's high schoolers from all across the state that are chosen as the best of the best. Sorry, a bit off track. Anyway, I was honored to be chosen and I learned the music before the gathering and group practice, but I was expecting more of the same "high school experience". NO, SIR. From the first group warmup, the conductor taught us a specific harmony in quasi-sectionals and then combined us back together. The thunderous (not loud, but deeeep) basses were nearly shaking the room, while the sopranos and tenors generated an overtone like bells in the rafters, and the altos posted a strong but sweet anchor to the melody. ...it was like standing in a waterfall of harmony. It was beautiful. It's the most beautiful thing I ever heard.

The story is as beautiful as the music. This is truly the best use of a technology that connects the world. I have no idea how this found it's way into my recommended list, but I'm glad it did.

I discovered Eric Whitacre's music while singing in a choir at Long Beach City College, Calif. where we sang Lux Aurumque and I have loved it ever since. And the tears flow.

I am here in 2020 during the coronavirus pandemic looking to the master for ways to save my lockdowned singers from loneliness and despair. Very grateful to Eric Whitacre, as are so many thousands of musicians around the world in these very dark times.

I sang this my senior year in high school at an honors band and this was my favorite song to sing out the whole concert. It was so beautiful and the chords really felt amazing in my chest as I sang. I wish I would have known about this, i would have uploaded myself singing. I sang alto 2 back then.

The result is a thousand times sweeter and denser than any type of vocal layering. .

I am 13 and living in England. In my school choir we are singing Whitacre's 'When David Heard' at our christmas concert. It is a great thought to think how on the other side of the world to him we can be a part of his music and so can the audience.

I can not carry a tune to save my life, so I’ll just wait till I get to heaven. When GOD made HIS plan for you HE included a talent in creating the gathering of these voice so the world would have an idea of what heaven’s angelical choir sounds like. Your blessed ♥️

We did Seal Lullaby in my small music class choir. We only had 6 people but listening to us high school students singing this, with only a few of us being actual singers, it nearly moved me to tears the first time we sung it through. He is an amazing and magical composer.

In a day and age of 'politically weaponized' social media, it's nice to be reminded of the grace and beauty that can be created using the internet. Things like this are why we built it.

Revisiting this during the corona crisis, it seems more relevant than ever and much more than just the interesting tidbit it was at the time.

Virtual choir, made online. Amazing. Brings a whole new network for people who just want to sing and be part of something. Could use a little more of signed language to mix things up. Virtual choir 3.0 maybe? Signed music is hypnotizing as well. I know ASL and English and think it would be am awesome opportunity to include another form of music like have been.
