Although this is from six years ago ... I just wanted to say that I made this bag today and it came out great! Perfect step-by-step tutorial. I had a little trouble with the zipper ends looking perfect but it's the first time I've installed a zipper so not too shabby. Thanks!!!

Made this bag and it turned out exactly like it wanted. It’s the perfect size for taking a sock project on the go. Next time I think I’ll add a small pocket to stick my stitch counter or something small. Thanks, Erica for a great video. The instructions along with the pattern were perfect!

January 27 2024 this is the perfect bag that I have been looking for putting my sock kniitting that I am learning. I have looked on so many sites for premade ones and just was not satisfied with either the material or the cost! Appreciate so very much the detail of your tutorial for a beginner and now ready to do a few to get my projects all set up in pretty makes. Thank you. 😊

Thank you so much for this tutorial. I set up my iPad with it on (so I could pause as needed) and went through with you. I made my first project bag for knitting (fits all my shawl materials in perfectly). My friends couldn't believe I actually made it (neither could I)...it turned out that good and was very quick and easy. Thanks again!! =)

I made this bag today. I'm so happy with how it turned out. It will be perfect for my smaller knitting projects. Thank you for posting this video. Your step by step instructions are easy to follow and having the measurements for the materials needed in the description box is so helpful.

Thank you for posting these instructions. I own several squishy project bags that I bought from New Zealand from another KZbinr. They were already made. I absolutely love these kind of bags for my crochet projects. I have several huge boxes of quilting fabrics that belonged to my late Mom. So many possibilities for all kinds of cute bags!

Hi Erica, I just today made your squishy bag. It turned out great. Sadly, I don't know how to send photos. I crochet baby hats for our hospital and I will use it to keep all my gear in so I can crochet anywhere and it's all organised and kept clean. Thanks so much. I love it.

As a complete novice sewer, I managed to produce a reasonable effort first time and a pretty good one second time (even if I say so myself!!). The instructions on the video are excellent - very clear and state exactly what you need to do and what the pieces should all look like. I'll post my squishy bag pictures - it's for my sister for Christmas so I hope she likes it. 😄

What a great tutorial! I've been watching a lot of knitting podcasters showing their project bags, feeling a bit sorry for myself that I can't afford them. I do have a sewing machine, along with very basic sewing skills (can't follow a pattern, but can sew straight lines!); plus, I have a lot of scrap fabric my mom gave me when she quit sewing. I can hardly wait to sew up one of these bags. You have also taken away the fear of putting in a zipper. My adult daughter has assured me it's incredibly simple, but I didn't believe her, lol. She lives far away or I'd have gotten her to teach me. Thank you for sharing your knowledge and expertise! PS-I also homeschooled!

Thanks Great job. I love tutorials... even though I've been sewing for 40years or so. I forget how to process my projects. It makes me feel more confident when mom isn't at the other end of the phone. Someday she won't be at the other end of the phone..... perhaps I'll be the one that family and friends come to to get project help.

Hi Erica, I'm Julie from Florida and I just finished making the squishy bag and I had so much fun!! the only difference I put tabs on my zipper it was a little challenging on one side of the zipper, but it worked out beautifully and I made the bottom boxed corner a little bit bigger. I love it now onto the next one. Thank you so much for taking the time to do the tutorials. If I can request maybe not so many advertisements ...thank you again from beautiful Florida..

When I put a little handle on my bags I like to have them on the end where the zipper tab is when it is closed - so when I am carrying it I don't take the chance that my zipper is not closed all the way and have some small item fall out. When it's on the that end it is at the upper end near the zipper pull when I am carrying it. Does that make sense?

Honestly, I'm new to knitting, so I'm not sure how big of a bag you would need for a sweater project! I know that is a lot of yarn though so I'd probably make it at least 15" wide by 15" tall maybe? Anyone else know what size would be good for a sweater?

Hi Erica, I forgot to ask you on one of your Podcast I was watching I saw you had bought some Roving Love is Magical I think it was so I was wondering how much yardage did you get out of it and did you did a follow up on it see how it spun into yarn, I bet it was beautiful...I just ordered some today and I'm excited to start...thank you for the inspiration....big hugs
@erica_arndt Жыл бұрын
Hi, I haven't spun it yet, so I can't answer that at this time :) It really depends on how thin/thick you spin it as to how much yardage you'll get as well. So it will be different for everyone.

Thanks Erica ~ as always you explain your tutorials so well! I can't wait to make this bag. I have a question ~ I'm fairly new to sewing, and I noticed you never pull up the bobbin thread. Is this something I don't need to do? Thx ~** Karen
@melindagibson86067 жыл бұрын
gr8fulgirl7 I think that's usually only in quilting. since you are back stitching, you should be fine!
@erica_arndt7 жыл бұрын
I don't pull it up because I'm starting on the batting off the edge of the actual fabric. If my thread runs out in the middle of the quilt and have to restart in the middle, I will usually pull it up. And that's just during the quilting part. I don't pull up the bobbin thread when just sewing like this because all of the loose ends are caught in the seams. Also my machine has an auto-thread cutter and I don't have to pull up my thread to start sewing, I can just go for it which is awesome!
