Not at all, it's really easy because you don't have to care about sewing the hem. And with the ulti-clips attached it stays in place.

Well my granddaughter came over and looked at my knives yesterday and said she would like a new knife for her birthday so we got looking and she chose a delica a purple one in VG10 so that’s what I ordered from Knives Shipped Free But of course that meant I had to order myself a Pocket Worn Orange Sodbuster Jr in SS bc well bc I had my card out lol It should be Case number 90 in the collection when it arrives Your traditional collection is looking great Any suggestions about upkeep on the delica and VG10 Love you and ditto GA Adventurer

Erica, actually the "utility" blade that you have on your mini-trapper is called a spey blade. That bullnose shape has a purpose. It was originally found as part of the old English Stockman knife, a 3 blade pattern. It is designed for speying(neutering) farm animals. The reason it's designed the way it is, is so that after you slice open the sack and remove the testes there's a cord that attaches the testes to the body. To spey the animal you have to cut the cord. Problem is that after you open the sack the animal is, how can I put this, pretty uncooperative. They buck and kick and fight, ect. That blunt tip tends to prevent accidently piercing the membrane that leads into the intestinal cavity(that membrane is where men get hernia's). If you pierce that membrane you will lose the animal to infection. So the spey tip actually works as a safety setup. On the stockman patterns the spey blade is short so you can wrap your index finger over top of the dull point and only the sharp edge of the blade is exposed which really reduces the chance of incidental or accidental damage. For some reason I don't know they lengthened that blade on the trapper patterns. They do still call it a spey blade 'tho. I grew up on a farm, and that's exactly how we did it, until we finally got our hands on a modern banding machine. Pigs were the worst. We used to catch them and flip them upside down into a trash can. Then one of us would hold the legs while the other one did the dastardly deed. The first pig was no big deal b/c he had no idea what was happening until it was basically too late. But afterwards he would run and tell all of his buddies what was going on. Then they'd fight us unbelievably hard. That was always at tough day, by the end you felt like you got beat with a 2x4. Anyway that's the scoop with a spey blade. Thankfully somebody invented a banding machine! Old school speying is a nasty messy job. Oh, it's cool that you're starting to appreciate case knives. They're quirky and sometimes require a pile of work from the factory, but really can't be beat for a pocketknife. Pretty, functional, and they hold up far better than anything else I've ever used. Peace.

@@ericasedc Lol, yeah, I know! My apologies. Hovever, it was way late, I was tired and I'm still in a fair bit of discomfort from a total knee replacement exactly 2 weeks ago b/c I stopped the pain meds on Tuesday. I am not getting hooked on that crap. The moral of the story: spend 2 years slipping around on the ice in Antarctica, get a titainum knee, make otherwise easily preventable mistakes afterwards! Lol Have a great weekend!

We used a rubber band machine on the sheep a zillion years ago. One time my mom messed up and it's mom had died so we kept it for breeding. . Old one nut got the job done

My dad has a green canister of lube used to soften up leather that he has had for at least forty years. We always used it on our baseball gloves and leather items like boots. It also treats the stuff and kinda waterproofs them for a while. I put some on my Sorels that I keep at their house every year.

Gotta check out the full size trappers! Main blade has more of a turkish clip shape and less of a classic clip point. I find it way more useful. Enough to justify the additional cumber lol
