“Quick fix” may not be the best choice of words to say, but her backswing is what this drill is addressing. With her correcting whatever she is feeling currently will eventually “fix” her swing. I have used this for years, I don't hit 350 yards, but I hit 285 straight as an arrow! It's amazing when your ball lands in the fairway, I'll take 285 in the middle of the fairway, vs 325 yards in the trees!

On one of her recent, prior videos, she asked for feedback and this is basically exactly what I suggested. To keep her right elbow tucked in closer to her body (the glove under the right armpit was popularized by Hogan) and to shorten her backswing. I wish I could round up the haters now and see what they have to say.

Generally speaking, what does keeping your right arm close to your body achieve? Is it for Drive swing, irons, wedges, etc? I'm an average golfer but I feel like my arm is pretty away from my body in my backswing 😂

@@123dukerthe golf swing, for any kind of consistency, is really about hips, legs, core, and shoulders. As with almost any sport, when you get out into your arms and hands, you cannot perform the same way 2x in a row. You are basically trying to swing around yourself. You should get Ben Hogan's book "Five Lessons" and take some lessons from a local pro....

When you are a single digit handicap who smokes the ball with a bad swing, I’m guessing it’s a bit different. She’s a content creator who plays like 4-5 times a week, that’s why she doesn’t have “time to practice”.

Thousands of hit balls! That's the only real way, bc you can swing a million times, but if you aren't hitting balls, you don't truly know what the ball is going to do

It can be quick fix (for many people it's 1 major fault sabotaging their swing). Eric did it properly in his demonstration but I don't think he told her the primary source of the fault (and instead effectively reverse engineering)... right arm folding too much too quickly. Hence why when she demonstrated her back swing the club was extremely flat and whirling behind her very quickly. I know from experience this is something so many of us get wrong. Keep the right arm straighter during the take away, and then begin to hinge it up when the clubhead is probably a little under knee high (though this will vary a bit person to person). It will keep the club in front of you so you have leverage, and not bury it so you wind up having to bench press it off of you to start the downswing. If you don't have any "easy" swing, you're probably doing this. This alone will sort out so many people's problems imo.

She plays a lot of golf but more for content and not for the sake of practicing. I get what she meant. Just playing golf and doing the same mistakes over and over doesn’t mean I am able to “practice” a lot and really analyze my swing. I golf at least twice a week now due to a league I joined and some weekend golf, but I wouldn’t say I really practice unless I go to the range and putting green at least twice a week to get stuff sorted out/addressed. Truthfully, as unorthodox as your swing is, Ray Floyd was a champion playing with a very similar laid off at the top golf swing. Your issue is, you are taking the club way too inside on your backswing and rerouting up to the top. Best tip is...lay parallel clubs down on the ground for feet and swing path alignment and bring the club back along the target line and not dead inside with your shoulder turn. Until you find a find an instructor to teach you this, your swing will not be on plane. The game can be played many ways well. Trevino actually took the club back outside of the line...same with Couples and rerouted it to the inside. Furyk more along the line. Best players tend to take the club back close to the target line because this has the highest probability of returning the club more down the line and shot at the target.

I would avoid mentally breaking the backswing into 1, 2, 3 segments. I once saw Charles Barkley’s swing that was literally broken into segments. It was like seeing an imaginary blockage on his swing. The entire swing is actually a single motion. Some coaches don’t know what they’re doing when they teach their students to break it into pieces.

To be fair - She’s fully covered excepts her calves. She is wearing the same amount of coverage as Eric. Women generally get away with wearing less than men and to be honest I am jealous. Fashion is subjective and it can be guaranteed that collared shirts and belted trousers will disappear from the game in the next 20 years. Golf is also too slow and with the amount of money it takes to upkeep and maintain courses one can guarantee that the bar will have to be lowered to keep it sustainable. It’s golf. Not a wedding and not a funeral. Some clubs mights have stricter rules than others but it doesn’t change the sport. There are numerous factors affecting the growth of the sport and unless you are willing to either pay more or adapt to the times you won’t have a club to go to - and YES they play GOLF at both ends of the spectrum. There are guys wearing daisy dukes shooting in the 60s. That’s golf. Not sure how you measure you game but bowties and long socks clearly have no effect on the actual game itself

To throw a ball one loads on the right foot as the arms and wrists do their thing (opposite for left-hander), turn their back to the target and the unleash all the torque loaded from the ground up...just like a golfswing.
