Eric, while my lead wrist is flat at top of backswing, my trail (R) palm is facing right at the ball, basically at 90*, and the club head is barely to the right of the hands, not quite as much as your student in the video, and I don’t have much external rotation of my trail shoulder, maybe like 50-60*. My transition and downswing start with the trail shoulder Internally rotating out towards the ball bringing the hands and club along with it, and all the related problems and compensations start from there, just like your student’s. I have the Precision Impact Trainer already, would this lesson and drill you prescribed also be as beneficial to me to help cure my very similar issues? The feeling I get when I try to add more supination of the trail forearm at the top of the backswing is the club face gets wildly open and then slides under the ball coming through impact. 🙏

It MIGHT.....if you add supination (laid off) you have to make sure you add max extension to square face...palm more toward camera

Just received the trainer and watched the Peter Kostis videos, what are your thoughts on him preferring an early wrist set? He mentions the method you discussed being powerful but less consistent and being his least favorite. I've been trying to get my wife to stop setting her wrists early forever and this is the first video that I can remember that suggests it.

Wow, I’ve been playing golf (poorly) for a decade now and always struggled with the same issue. I drove myself mad trying to fix it thinking it was about wrist flection and solved it in 15 seconds after you moved the client’s forearm/wrist to supination. You have solved the biggest issue I’ve had in my swing in a single move. I focused on that issue this morning and had the best ball striking of my life. Thanks!

Great lesson Eric, this is exactly my problem. I have totally misunderstood the role, and the desired angle, of the right wrist at the top. It totally makes sense now. Thanks again.

Greg Norman had a right wrist molded thing for this as well, everyone said it worked pretty well. This looks more refined. But the tip that always stuck with me was feel like your right hand is holding a stack of plates at the top. The more you get that right palm facing up the better position you'll be in. Good lesson Eric

Eric - thanks for the code for the $35 off for that wrist trainer. I've been using the Hanger, but this looks like it will better allow me to feel the right wrist being bent through impact. Like this student, I'm pulling and pull hooking. I'm hopeful that this will help me. On a positive note, I've managed to reduce my Handicap from 30+ to 25.9 over the last few weeks from watching your videos and performing a lot of your drills (with a healthy dose of course management ideas from Golf Sidekick); thanks for everything!!!

When I came across this video my eyes almost bugged out of my head. This student's "before" swing looked EXACTLY like mine. I know because I took a video of my swing at the range last week. Looked good at 3/4 of the way to the top. Then came a hitch with the overswing that brought the club across the line at the top leading to the steep downswing just like this video showed. I thought I was hitting the ball well but when I saw my video I thought "this is NOT how the swing is supposed to look". I was left wondering how I didn't shank almost every ball I hit. This right wrist adjustment is a game changer!

Watching my own swing, I saw that I was so laid off that my face was wide open causing me to flip at impact. After months and months of watching swings and working on my own, im now getting around 12-15 degrees of shaft lean. The feeling I got was to be across the line but in reality I was dead straight with a square club face. Thanks for the video Eric

This is almost exactly what my coach and I are talking about right now. But Eric I have to ask does the club face have to be pointing to the ground on the takeaway? Todd my instructor says my hands have to stay quiet as possible with the club face remaining square throughout the swing.
@CogornoGolf2 жыл бұрын
Hey Charles As a stock model we like to see the leading edge of the club roughly match the back line during takeaway So it should be slightly tilted down on average
@charlesallen2462 жыл бұрын
@@CogornoGolf Thanks Eric. I played some golf today before a storm came in and I think I’m getting my game back on track. I think I was using my arms a bit too much in the backswing. Using my body to take the club back makes the wrist rotation feel less awkward.

I don't doubt for a minute what you say is true about the trainer but if one were to just focus on where your right thumb is pointing at the top of your backswing you could save a lot of time and money . If your thumb on the right hand points to the target or target wards you will most likely cross the line at the top. If your right thumb points away from the the target behind you at the top you will achieve both supination and extension and you will be just fine.
