Then how do you suggest hand mixing through shaking the jug without spilling any liquid contents? If you are dumb enough to basically destroy a single container for that singular purpose as well as creating a vacuum effect inside once the container is inverted. You might as well purchase a cheap watering can at a dollar store. One doesn't simply "poke holes in the cap" with that type of plastic, you drill them. You would be just as well off using a utility knife and either cutting a slit in the lid or the upper sides of the bottle, or better yet, buy a one gallon wand hand sprayer.

We set up a camera by our 14 steps that we leave icy so we can laugh at the people who fall down. We add cold water to get a nice smooth slick area. The thuds, the thumps, wailing, the ooooOH!.. or NOOOOOO! as they take that beating on each rock hard bone shattering concrete step is priceless comedy. Sometimes we even help them call 911 if they are conscious and can't move if they promise not to sue. Some folks over the years have survived the fall. Most don't. Stop over. All the stores were out of snow salt and my amazon purchase of it wasn't coming for another 3 days so I gave this a try. I didn't have Dawn so I used the non-name brand dish detergent I had but added more drops to try to compensate for that. I only had 70% isopryl alcohol I had and added a little more to try to compensate for that. I made a half gallon and put it in a spray bottle to ensure all areas get some of the solution on it AND IT WORKED! Approximately 2 inches of snow had already begun to stick and the DIY solution turned is slushy right away and 2hrs later, the old snow continued to fade and no new snow accumulated. Store bought ice melt work faster but this was a great remedy since I didn't have any ice melt on hand. I wonder if it'll work on my car without damaging the paint and windows 🤔
@jennifercox62773 жыл бұрын

I would use pure alcohol in a sprayer. Adding water to already frozen water is just stupid and what is the point of the soap? Seems a little crazy. Go to an aesthetic supply, buy a gallon jug of alcohol for basically nothing, load it into a backpack sprayer and knock yourself out! That’s what I’m going to try, since I just ran out of calcium (which works far better and faster than rock salt) and we’ve got a storm rolling in tonight. I’m in the Greater Toronto Area and this whole winter has been one ice storm after another.

You can avoid the bubbles by mixing the dish soap in slowly with a spoon or stir stick
@peepla73 жыл бұрын
alcohol doesn't freeze and it melts ice. The dishsoap is to clean windshields. And you need more alcohol. We use half a 16 oz bottle to a gallon of water. Water doesn't have to be hot. Its called a slurry. First used it when car was snowed in.... applied it...when in the house to warm up with a cup of coffee...came out to slush that I was able to sweep away with a broom. Didn't even need the shovel.
@peepla73 жыл бұрын
That's why you have to add it to water...slows the evaporation long enough for it to be used on the snow.

I mean it would have been cheaper just for you to make the concrete foundations and pour it yourself it would of been a couple hundred bucks prolly. And yeah salt ruins ever thing because its abrasive, so its scraping against other abrasive tops, like concrete which is also abrasive. And when you can cut the hardest stones with sand. i don't see y salt would be any different? So don't use salts on concrete less than 3 years old or poof. Unless you use pure Magnesium Chloride than it is suppose to be safe for concrete thats new but i wouldn't use it, you could also just use like aluminum balls heated int eh oven or microwave.
