MY STRATEGIES: 1. Slow-growth - In the beginning, pour all the money you make back into the business; invest in gear. Grow it debt-free. 2. Second Shoot/Shadow for free or for less than typical rates. See what kind of deals you can work with established photographers. 3. Connect with the community of photographers around you. 4. DO NOT shoot a wedding by yourself until you know you’re ready. TWO CAMERA BODIES! 5. Make a website (not just an instagram account). 6. Once you get clients, knock their socks off with your service. Under-promise and over-deliver. OTHER PEOPLES' STRATEGIES: 1. Advertise on Facebook and Instagram (and Myspace). Target your ads and follow up quickly with leads. 2. Meet with planners and keep up with the relationships you have with them. 3. Set up styled shoots! 4. Take classes/go to workshops/do mentor sessions with experienced photographers. 5. Post all of your content to Pinterest (to all social platforms for goodness sake) 6. Ask your clients for reviews on Google, Facebook, The Knot, Wedding Wire, etc.

Yes, having a Website is extremely important. And have it responsive not just a clunky website.

Eric, I deeply value and appreciate the work you are putting out online to share your experience as a wedding photographer/filmmaker. The effort you put into these videos is worth it. Sharing your candid moments and true honesty is unbelievably refreshing in this day and age of KZbinrs. Again, I found you on your 100k a yr video. Already rang the bell before you asked at the end of that mini reel in that vid. Huge ups! Keep crushing it!

I made really good experience with booking google ads, targeted specifically towards woman btw 25 and 35. The ad used words like vintage and boho. I linked it straight to one of my most beautiful wedding posts and I do 90% of my bookings with Google SEA as this is only my second year of shooting weddings. I don't really acquire over Instagram or anything else. Google is very very powerful. Thanks for the great video!

You're one of the first few people I've come across who have actually pointed out the benefits of the gear... I know gear isn't all that matters... Your creativity has to surpass the gear... But the gear makes your life so much easier and it helps so much especially when working with clients! Literally subscribed to your channel as soon as you said that... 😂

Second shoot. Second shoot. Second shoot. That’s the best way to break into the industry. You get to do it. You get to network. That’s the only way to grow, keep doing it. And be nice to everyone so they’ll want to work with you.

Amen to having a website. I tried reaching out to an incredible wedding photographer so I could do some video work for her. We talked a bit, then she asked if I had a website, and I told gave her my facebook videos page. Really dried up the conversation. She liked my wedding video on Instagram....but just because I don't have a site, she wouldn't take me seriously lmfao. So yes, get a website. Starting on one today

Ok this is something I haven’t seen anyone else mention. I could have missed it somewhere, but in shooting wedding films, how do you deliver the film to the client? Not the highlight film like the masterpieces you have posted but like the 30 min+ film? Do you burn a dvd or Blu-ray? If so, what do you use to burn it? Or just digital? If this is the case, what platform do you send it on?
