Filmed my first with an iphone on a gimbal & drone - very low budget (Turned out great!) Filmed my 2nd with iphone on gimbal & drone & mirrorless camera (panasonic G85). No budget - was for family About to film the third with three mirrorless cameras, wireless mics, and gimbal. No budget - is for family If that works out, I have another lined up and hoping to start something of side hustle with a big budget. This was really helpful. thanks for all this

I've filmed 4 weddings within the first year and a half of picking up a camera. Finally was able to make a 30 second preview that colored well and that I was pleased with, and I charged $900 for the 6-7 minute wedding edit (they asked me 2 days before since the original guy cancelled)! Also, those DR-10L's are FREAKING FANTASTIC! Love your stuff man, next year I'm planning to be able to jump to full time with around 10-12 weddings + commercial work (for a while)!

Hey Eric, Thanks for sharing this video. It's exactly what I needed as someone who's eager to dive into the world of videography. I've been shooting stuff on my iPhone and tinkering around with iMovie for a while now, but I'm totally new to professional cameras and editing software. So, your video is like a guiding light for me. I'm curious about a few things: Online Classes: Could you recommend some online classes or resources for someone at my level, especially for both filming and editing? I'd love to start learning the basics and gradually build my skills. Camera Recommendations: Since I'm more of a beginner than most, I'd appreciate your advice on which camera from your recommendations in the video would be a good starting point for someone like me. Drone Footage: Do you use drones? If so, could you share which drones you use and any tips for getting started with drone videography?

I have to respectfully disagree with the autofocus point. While my Fuji cams have pretty good autofocus, I have never used them for weddings. It’s ridiculously easy to pull focus for weddings with just a little practice. Once you learn, you have full control!
@brianduchateau3 жыл бұрын
I've been mainly filming weddings and I can tell u... AF Makes a huge difference. (Although Mostly for moving shots) But it also depends on someones style.
@itsaaronmiller3 жыл бұрын
@@brianduchateau I don't doubt that it's nice! But I think it is hugely beneficial to get the best system overall without having to find a system with usable AF (sony or canon). Until recently, sony and canon didn't have any good options without getting into the cinema line. It is still a huge entry point as well when you can get a full kit (3 fujifilm cameras) for barely over 1 A7sIII or R6. I see so many new people stress about AF when I don't feel its that hard to shoot a wedding without af.
@lamar_studios10 ай бұрын
I agree with what you say but you can use Autofocus to your advantage. Remember you also have auto tracking which can help alot and for me who shoot alone I need one of my cameras with good autofocus even tho I'll monitor it from my phone

I love your video Eric, just don't agree with the statement that gear dosn't matter and I am sure you are also not that fond of this saying. Yes it doesn't make you a better or worse storyteller and that's a skill that you need time to develop. But lets be honest, how many people are good storytellers before they had access to good gear? The gear can help you with a specific look you want for your film, or just make it easier. Maybe a better way to say it would be don't chase equipment for the beginning and use what you have available. probably the most important and potential investment you would need for the beginning is for some kind of audio and a monopod or gimbal.
