When I first heard this I was 16, about a month from finishing high school. Before that I'd been listening to old rock and metal, then 90's mainstream punk stuff, then nu metal and all kinds of hip hop and just the kind of stuff you'd expect a teenage kid from a nowhere town to know in 2000. Neither me nor my friends had internet access at the time so we just had TV, mixtapes from friends and the occasional free CD with a magazine as our only ways of hearing new music. The radio here wasn't worth jack shit. When my buddy came into school and played Relationship of Command for me on his Discman it was like a fucking earthquake that knocked everything else into piles of rubble on the ground. I still get goosebumps listening to this. It's simply genius.

For all the spitballing they did with their lyrics, "And they made sure that the obituaries | Showed pictures of smoke stacks" and, "When the company of wolves | Was a stretcher made of cobblestone curfews" are absolutely brilliant. More pertinent than ever: there's a curfew because of the Coyote's and other predators out there, cobblestone means the roads are broken up, that those roads are a stretcher means going out is a death sentence. Or worse.

Me an a very good friend of mine have seen the official videoclip to this song at the same time. We were trying to give each other a phone call, because we wanted to make the other turn on the tv and experience this incomparable music. And now after I've heard to it again, I ask myself, where are those 11 Years gone? Now it doesn't matter, because they have reunited. Come to Europe, me and my friend will be there, even if we have to travel across the whole continent and we will be young again.

I knew Enfilade from these guys from Limewire. Went out and bought the album, and honestly didn't think much of this song for the longest time. It did sit on my computer for a long time though. But one day I listened to it the whole way through, and it immediately became my favourite by At the Drive-In. I don't know when, but eventually, attributed to my old age, I found some songs would make me tear up. They just make you feel emotion. The end of this song does that to me.

I'd say a mix of different (but actually good) bands unintentionally influenced the creation of that whiny emo sound that became popular in the mid 2000s. You could say Mike Patton made it kind of an appealing idea for men to sing in that really high nasally register in alternative rock/metal, and then there were bands like Deftones, Glassjaw, and ATDI that mixed the very melancholy themes/vibes with a tenor vocalist. All great bands, that were obviously admired by kids with no talent who wanted to emulate them.
