A couple of years ago, I bought a copy of Chrono Trigger for the Nintendo DS at my local video game store, and only paid $13 for it since it was Black Friday. I looked on Amazon and the cheapest used copy was around $80.

I once owned Panzer Dragoon Saga, pretty much mint condition, stupidly along with my Saturn,2 controllers,light gun,memory card and around 30+ games i sold the lot £200. When i then picked up a Dreamcast console.

Great video. What cracks me up is you can get every final fantasy in the pixel remaster in so many different ways, its' so stupid how much that game is considering how many times they've ported over these old games (and a lot of the ports are shit) square enix doing a false limited availability trick
@TheBlackSeraph Жыл бұрын
Especially since most of the games are based on the crappy iphone ports with the godawful UI and character sprites. Even getting the Switch version for AU$150 seems way too much. Ultimate only ordered it so I could have a physical version of every FF game 1 thru 12 on one system.

It is interesting how some of these are either unplayable or not that really rare (it is just the demand outpaces the supply).

Most expensive game I ever sold was Boktai 2. I had no idea anyone would be willing to pay $250 for my CIB copy (Kojima fans are crazy) and I still can't believe some retro games go for thousands and sometimes the box alone sells for that much. People with too much money are nuts! Except for Nintendo 1st party games, it's usually not even hard to find a rom/iso. It's mainly just people's collecting compulsion driving up the price of games they're nostalgic about to ridiculous levels. Personally, I would probably not pay more than $100 for a used game even if I thought it was the best thing ever

A few years ago, I noticed my old SNES and PS1 games Ogre Battle March of the Black Queen (SNES & PS1 versions), Secret of Mana, and Suikoden 2 were worth quite a bit. I still had the original packaging and all were in good/excellent conditions. I sold all 4 and got $900. I had no idea some people sought original copies of these games. Now I'm thinking I should have kept them. They held sedimental value.

The Steam version has gotten better than it started out as. It still doesn't beat the DS version, but it's a viable option if you don't have the money or the DS to go for that one.

Back in 2016, I managed to get a sealed copy of Pokémon Platinum for 16 dollars, I got a used CIB Pokemon White 2 for 20 and I got Japanese versions of Platinum and White 2 for 25 bucks as a bundle (I wanted to Masuda method some shinies, thus the JP versions) now I see them going for 175 to 200 dollars each. I saw a copy of Emerald selling for 250, and CIB versions of HeartGold and SoulSilver with the PokeWalker? You may as well buy a PS5 because that’s essentially what it’ll cost you. It sucks that you can’t collect these games anymore. I genuinely enjoy playing my games off of the cart and there are things you can’t do any other way, but people saw the Pokémon craze start in 2020 and started scalping people, and it sucks ass. These days, I have all the games I play on my 3DS, but gone are the days where I could get Pokemon Games at a decent price. I’m glad I still have my copies of Emerald and Sapphire and all Gens 4 and 5.

I’ll still never forget when I got into the GameCube around 2014 I found so many games for good prices. I got a complete copy of Paper Mario TTYD and Pokémon XD Gale of Darkness each for $20. These prices are not for games, but for rare collectible game boxes. What's the point of evaluating whether to buy them or not, from the perspective of the plot or gameplay of the game? It's like buying an antique vase, because you have to shove your umbrella somewhere at the entrance. I have a New 3DS full of interesting games for GBA, DS in particular. Which cost me 0$ because I'm not a collector, but a true gamer, who has more and different things to spend his time and money on. For example, upgrading a computer, purchasing games that cannot simply be downloaded, consoles on which are more convenient and more interesting to play than on an emulator.

I'd love to see a PAL version of this list after coming across Australian listings for Mary Skelter (PS Vita) at $500 and Demon Gaze 2 (PS Vita) at $2,000, although the UK versions are a fraction of that. Additionally, although they wouldn't even make the top 10, The 3DS remakes of Shin Megami Tensei 4, Devil Survivor Overclocked and SMT: Strange Journey Redux all sell at >AU$350 because of region locking and low print numbers. Not sure of the Persona Q/Persona Q2 pricing.

Honestly, some of these games are possible to buy or even trade for as long as you have a very, very active video game community in your area. Of course, what are you willing to part with , is the question? Ok, for example, I traded Donkey Kong Country, X- Men: The Game sealed, River City Girls, for Castlevania Legends and X-Men Origins : Wolverine. It's not an RPG, but just an example, that collectors can trade for rare RPG games too.

the pixel remasters on console look absolutely wretched with their font treatment anyways. they look like mobile ports with the arial font they used. however, the pc port of the pixel remasters is very easy to mod with the correct sprite based fonts which elevates the presentation (and there are many options available). so no real loss in not being able to obtain or afford the ps4 port. i wouldn't be surprised if they get a wider re-release down the line as well.

Really shocked about FF Perfect Remaster for PS4 being so expensive, but that is more on Square being punks . It isn't like a game for a failed system for the Zeebo or Amiga CD or Sega Saturn. It's just Square wants to take the Apple Route and make things artificially expensive. Final Fantasy 7: The Remake for PS5, I can rarely find in my city. The Post Malone Xbox Series X System for example is 4,000. So besides games, also systems are purposely made rare, just to mess with people.
