Finally a mention of Stardoll! I was so obsessed with that came as a kid. Spent hours on it. I did pay membership a few times, which back then I had to do through the money on my phone?? Idr what that's called.

The sad thing about all of these virtual worlds is that most of these are defunct/no longer running. Meaning kids like me, who were born in 2006 and so found games like Club Penguin, Moshi Monsters, Monkey Quest, Webkinz, and even games like SecretBuilders and Movie Star Planet thanks to my older cousins, only found these games when they were already starting to die. I physically remember being on the day Monkey Quest shut down and even Moshi Monsters. Thanks to this and my younger age at the time I wasn't able to ever experience these games to the fullest (aka with membership) and am only able to do so now through rewrittens/fan projects of the games. But now, all that childhood wonder I would of had back then isn't there as I've not played these games in years and am too old for them.

Yep. The magic is lost for me. Even with the rewritten projects like Club Penguin or toontown I quickly got bored. I’m glad they exist and people can still play it just doesn’t carry the same magic it used to.

I have spent at least 8 years looking for a very specific game that shut down in 2011 that I could t remember for the life of me. And thanks to you my search is officially over!! Chapatiz is the french version of a game called Muniz Online. You could play mini games, collect fashion items from gifts on the ground, and chat with other players. Thank you so much!!!

you can actually still play animal jam, both versions. when flash shut down they just moved to a downloadable client. they came out with a 3D app version called animal jam - play wild in 2015 which eventually got a PC client as well. i forget when exactly but eventually they changed play wild to just animal jam and changed the original to animal jam classic, but both versions are fully playable and updated semi-regularly.

Thank you for this video! Whirled, Zookazoo, Zwinky, Dino Run Online, Fantage, Habbo, ToonTown, Gaiaonline, Webkinz, Moshi Monters, Neopets, Club Penguin Transformice, BoomBang and a lot of other games that I forgot about were all the games I’ve played growing up. Whirled was something I played religiously as a kid and into my late teens. I’m 25 now and I revisited the game a couple months ago but it’s gone. There was a fan recreation but it’s just so dead… the memories live forever though. 💔

Games from this list that I remember: I had so much fun on Fantage, even if I didn't pay for extra things. I remember playing it towards the end of its life and it was definitely not the game it used to be then. I played on the online JumpStart world, but I didn't enjoy it as much as their 3D game series. Unfortunately they made that series pay-to-win. I never got to finish any, as far as I can remember. I think I might have used moshi monsters once or twice. And I do know I played movie star planet, particularly with one of my online friends. I spent the majority of my childhood enjoying Toontown. The day it shut down, I got on before school and said "goodbye toontown" and some other toons in the same playground said similar. I was really sad that I had to go to school that day, lol. But I'm kind of glad it shut down now, in a way, since it allowed for Toontown Rewritten to exist, a much free-er version of the game 😂Like seriously... I remember a yearly membership was $80!!!! What parent agrees to that! But my mom and I played it a lot together! I have a TTR account but rarely play. Still, so much nostalgia. I also had lots of fun with Club Penguin, and I associate these two in my mind together, as I believe lots of others do. I also remember playing Pirates Online, but only with one specific memory of me being on open waters looking at locations in the distance. I played on webkinz! I had a cow plush which I determined to be a male named Moo (or something equally cliche). I also played YoWorld / YoVille at some point thanks to my facebook presence. I played Poptropica a little bit. Another world of note: There was a facebook game called Road to Fame which my mom and I enjoyed together. If I'm not mistaken, that was a virtual world. Of course, if I'm wrong, it was a facebook game, so you could invite your friends and whatnot, at the very least. It looks like their last facebook post was in 2015 explaining that they just couldn't maintain the game anymore. The game shut down on the last day of 2015. It started in 2013. Something else about Toontown Rewritten: I remember, really early on in its life, when you booted up the game and saw the log-in screen, there was a news section on the left side, and they had a thing there that said "we made this game for kids like >this

animal jam, fantage, and moviestarplanet were my favorites as a kid. i still play animal jam and moviestarplanet. i honestly miss fantage, as the fashion show minigame was my favorite, nothing can top the fashion show minigame imo. also the memories i had on zwinky, i got my sister's laptop a virus from downloading zwinky, i had to make multiple accounts because i forgot my passwords and it always logged me out every few days, and i remember catfishing as a boy on one of the accounts 😭 also there's apparently a few fantage rewrittens? one you can only play as singleplayer and there's limited options, the second was from the official developers, and is kind of similar to the first one, and the third is going to be _like_ fantage, it was originally going to be a fantage rewritten but the official developers sent an email saying not to use their name, so it is now a game like fantage, called mirai. haven't heard any updates since 2022, last time i checked they were posting art of the game

I played Tootsville a bit when I was younger and the only thing I remember about it was that by default your character walked on all fours but if you got the membership they walked upright. My memory might be off but there are some interesting implications there I think.

There were multiple versions of Toonix as it was tied to Cartoon Network's branding at the time (on TV there bloopers with cartoon characters being as Toonix ones). From what I remember there was Toonix (3D one for EU markets) MundoToonix (2D one for Latin America), Superstadia (also for EU markets) and a mobile version. I didn't play MundoToonix a lot but I remember it being the best one as it had a chat and friends system (You couldn't chat in EU Toonix and I think the friends system was at some point removed and in Superstadia majority of the "players" you could met were fake). The mobile version was the most confusing one as it focused on skateboarding, it was extremely buggy so no one really played it. Superstadia had a theme of 2 rivalry sport teams , but the most that would really happen is the trophy switching between team bases. Toonix EU lived the shortest with it shutting down in 2015, Superstadia shut down in 2018 and MundoToonix shut down in 2020. Also for Chimpooo, the game suddenly shut down in 2015 with a message that it will come back soon but never did.

I still think about Dizzywood often. My mom does too (we used to play it together and she said given the chance she would absolutely play it again). There's an unofficial remake/preservation effort that started last year. They're looking for files from the game. Hopefully one day me and my mom will be able to play dizzywood again. The virtual worlds I was on the most: Franktown Rocks, Fantage (cause it wasn't blocked on school computers), Webkinz (again because it wasn't blocked on school computers), Millsberry, and Build-A-Bearville.

Correction for barbie girls: there was a mp3 player that you could buy to get exclusive items for the game, so there was an incentive to buy stuff for the game. Barely anybody had it because it was $50. Anyone who had the mp3 was rich as hell in game.

I used to play a lot of these kinds of games growing up and this video is a trip down memory lane. Regarding Toonix, my memory of it is vague but I'm Romanian and I do recall playing it. I can't recall if I played the 3D version, I only recall the designs of the characters, but I definitely played some version of it back in the day. I also remember the "Tiny Planets" TV show, though I have no memory of the game You have no idea for how long I've been looking for Webosaurs! I found it a while ago and got super nostalgic. I especially liked the fighting minigame I also fondly remember a game named Shidonni. You could draw your own pet, their food, their clothes and I'm certain it played an important part in my current love of drawing
