I am now in love with Ivan Trevino's writing. I love this duet, Catching Shadows, and 2+1. I really want to start learning some of his pieces. They're just stellar, and amazing players too!

I love how you can hear the attack of the mallets but it's still soft and pleasant. Awesome recording!

God, not only is Ivan Trevino (the composer), amazing at writing good pieces, but their interpretation of the music is so perfect for this piece.

It's got some of the best ideas from both Catching Shadows and 2300 Degrees along with its kwn complete uniqueness especially in the chorus around the 2:45 mark that shows up a couple times

Beautiful piece, beautiful playing, beautiful audio - but what's the story on the video quality? I don't tend to fuss, but this looks like it was shot using the NASA mars rover or something. I watch classical guitarists and other similar things sometimes and it's just simple and elegant. This music and performance deserves the same....

Excellent performance! Quick question, how do you find the Burton grip compared to the Stevens grip on Marimba?
@ericpercussion1008 жыл бұрын
I find it does not add extra strain to my hands like Steven's grip had done to me in the past. It is important to understand no Four-mallet grip is perfect and all have their pros and cons.

Very true. Thanks for replying!

4:20, brown hair switches technique. Are thumbs supposed to be inside the the stick or on it?

He is playing cross grip, which needs the thumb inside at times to expand to larger intervals.

he switches from Stevens to cross for intervals

Stupid Question: Does this have to be on two 5 octaves, or can it be on two 4.3's?
@ericpercussion1009 жыл бұрын
MrMagicpantz200 It is intended for 2 5 octave marimbas, however we have played this with one 5 octave and a 4.3 before and switched interments half way through.

After playing this myself I feel like it's safe to say that the balance between you two was not as good as it could've been. So much low marimba, not enough of the high marimba, even though that's the part that usually has the melody.
