Thank you for making this video! I followed your instructions step by step and was able to replace my sensor in less than 2 hours and now have an accurate oil pressure reading. You saved me hundreds of dollars doing myself and several hours compared to removing the entire intake plenum. It wasn't easy because there is so little room to work back there but with perseverance, I got it done. Thanks again!

I have a 2012 Colorado 5.3L V8 (bit of a unicorn) & searched high & low just to find out the location of my Oil Pressure Switch. Even Storer & Haynes was of no help. Thank you so much! I was on the brink of giving up & taking it to a shop. From now on I'll remember that 5.3L Tahoes have a lot in common with mine.

Hey, I am another satisfied customer in your debt. It was a bitch, but it would’ve been a nightmare without this video. Took me about 90 minutes only because the deep socket I used to take the sensor out worked fine but not to snug in the new one, I needed a six sided deep socket which I didn’t have. I think this was mentioned in the video. We improvised and I got it in and it all worked. Once again, your video is awesome. Thank you for the time you took and creating it and all the people that you’ve helped.

A great video! First, you're one of the very few who actually describe and explain how to remove the plug from the sensor. I was lucky enough to not have to remove any vacuum lines. At the location of the short extension and after the swivel, I used a 3/8 to 1/2 adapter and loosened the sensor initially with my breaker bar. Once loosened, I used a regular ratchet to complete removal. To remove the filter, I found a long (3") lug screw the diameter of the filter and gently screwed it in 1/4 turn to bite into and then remove the filter. 90 minutes total, maybe less than 45 if had to do again.

Thank you. I watched another video and they removed the intake manifold and I was so relieved to see how you did it. It only took me 30 minutes and it went EXACTLY as you showed. The only glitch was when I started the truck, the oil pressure still read zero, but 15 seconds later it read correctly. Great job, saved me hundreds $$$.

This is the video to watch if doing this! Two other things I would add from my experience. 1. I disconnected the fuel line to the right of the sensor to free up a little more space. 2. After replacing the oil pressure sensor when starting my vehicle the sensor on the dash was not fluctuating like it was before, but a little high. I ultimately disconnected the battery, and then started and let it idle for a few minutes and then the pressure stabilized to normal. Thanks again for the great video!

Getting the plug off sensor at the beginning was the toughest part. Thanks for the good video and showing the mass air flow sensor connection so I knew what I had to blindly unlatch. Pushing in the tab to release it was key.

Thanks for making this video. It was clear and concise. Showing how to remove the clips was a huge help, especially since it was very hard to see some of them. I followed the video to a tee and finished in about an hour and a half with no real issues except I lost the white clip off the electrical connector. It flew off while I was trying to pull it up. I stole the one from the mass airflow sensor (thanks for showing that they are the same) so I could put everything back together. Just need to get a replacement clip for the mass airflow sensor now and I'll be done. Thanks again.

I may be having this issue. Oil Pressure reads around 20, sometimes below. "Engine Power Reduction" flashes on the dash as well as messages regarding the Stabilitrack and Traction Control. The engine runs really rough when this happens. I have to pull over, cut it off and restart it for it to "reset." Sometime it takes a few turns of the key before it gets right. This code is present on diagnostic. And as a side note, the transmission was just rebuilt by a professional. Needless to say money is tight. 😩 Great instructional video btw!

It is definitely DIY-able. Followed the instructions. The only issue was the switch was positioned so that the wiring cap lock was facing the engine, meaning fingers couldn’t get in to move the white tabs up and press the clip to remove. Also use extra caution when tighening the new sensor in place, my tool came loose and bended the plastic part little bit. Again, thanks for the video. Helped me tons.

Reset the code and the engine light turned off. About a day later, the engine light came on again and it says engine oil pressure “a” range. Any ideas? I removed the screen, and installed new screen so I’m not sure what it would be.

Dude! Awesome video, thanks for making this. I took your suggestion and removed the two vacuum lines and it did make things slightly easier. Really glad I watched this first. I bought the socket and used a u-joint and the whole thing went really smoothly. I shit my pants a little when I first turned on the truck and saw ZERO psi of oil pressure... It took about 5 seconds to build up pressure and now it's 50psi at idle when cold which seems strong to me.

Clear the code and you have to drive it for about 60 miles before the ecu completes the emmisons testing that they do

Does the screen/filter attach to the sensor before you put the sensor on? Or do you just drop the screen Down in the Hole before you thread on the sensor ?
@ERICSDIYGARAGE
@ERICSDIYGARAGE Жыл бұрын
It just drops in the hole, and the sensor goes on top

How much does a repair like this cost at a shop? Let's say the whole sensor, not screen. And do they have to flush out the motor for stuff that would clog it again. Or would a normal oil change be enough? Great video thanks !
@ERICSDIYGARAGE
@ERICSDIYGARAGE 2 жыл бұрын
I would say around 200 might be more depending on the shop and location. And no it's not needed to flush the engine and replacing the screen is always a must

is there a website where you get the blueprint of the vehicle to know where this sensor is at? I am looking for a Chevy Volt and cant seem to find the sensor myself

Will this cause low oil pressure? My wife has a 2011 and when it’s warming up it has good oil pressure and once warmed up and driving it rides around 20-30 then at idle like 10. I’m hoping it’s not the o ring on the pump, I did one on my Silverado and it was a pain.

Likely the o ring in the pick up tube
