I just discovered this channel, I watched the 383, and now I see the truck. What blows me away is that my dad "who's name is also Eric, has 91c15. He bought it in 2002. Carved 502, big cam, holly. Was a mean truck. My dad was a engine builder and body man. He installed a east coast customs fiberglass ground effects, shaved lights and roll pan, a smooth fiberglass topper. Fast forward to a few years ago. The truck was totaled, someone pulled out in front of me, the truck is repairable, however when this happend my dad was suffering from stage 3 cancer and other things, he was chemically poisoned painting semis in the early 90s where he worked. So he has been gone. And like you said it " Will always be dad's truck" is true. I hope to restore it to the street/strip truck he invisioned

Pretty cool Eric! That’s a nice 383 stroker for sure! I’m an old retired mechanic from United States Air Force I have a condition whereby I cannot longer seem to get the information to my hands. I’ve got a nice 383 stroker coming from Washington state! Hot rod engines out there is sending me a 383 stroker for my 1963, Chevy C 10 pick up. I’m also putting a Tremec five speed overdrive transmission manual into the truck! The first engine was attempted to be delivered but it was not wrapped properly and damage was done to that 383. So I am waiting for another engine for my project truck. I’m an old retired mechanic from the Air Force I have a disability where I cannot get a lot of information to my hands these days. Eric your videos inspire me to keep turning wrenches and to stay dirty! I love the mechanical things that you show, You are an awesome mechanic and I thank you for the material that you post it keeps me going! Rocco and Eric! You’re one hell of a mechanic I follow a lot of the things that you do online and once again thank you Eric!

Yup. Painting your welds, especially on exhaust is the ticket for not getting it rusty as fast as it could and will without. I use a combo of etch high heat primer and high temp paint. I used to use a thicker stuff (was thinking that impacts are a common thing) but it's best to have thin, even, well laid and well gripped in coats.

Hey, why is the U.S. Flag upside down on your profile picture? Are you under dire distress? I’m a 20 year retired Veteran and notice things like this. According to Title 36 Section 176 of the U.S. flag code, the flag should never be displayed with the union down, except as a signal of dire distress in instances of extreme danger to life or property.

HOLY CROW SIR ERIC, WHEN YOU TURNED THOSE FANS ON IT SOUNDED LIKE A FREAKIN SHOP VAC. The best part of this whole vid ( FOR ME ) was when you put that piece of Rad. Hose in that your DAD had in there. The words that you said that HIT HOME HARD WAS " TO ME THIS WILL ALWAYS BE HIS TRUCK " . You see my wife passed a little over 3 years ago at the age of 49 & her 1997 Jeep Grand Cherokee still sits in the garage, it has 182,000 miles on it with no rust, bought it brand new for her. Now I'm finally replacing a lot of stuff on the Jeep, mostly suspension parts, shocks, tires Rad, hoses ect. What I get from my family members, neighbors & the few friends that stuck by me is "WHY ARE YOU SPENDING SO MUCH MONEY ON THAT OLD JEEP ? LIKE YOU SAID ERIC, "IT WILL ALWAYS BE MY WIFE'S JEEP " I CAN'T SELL IT, I JUST CAN'T, THEY DON'T GET IT. I had to stop the vid. for a bit but I continued on Eric & I must say, YOU SIR ARE ONE HELL OF A MECHANIC FOR WHAT YOU TRANSFORMED THAT TRUCK INTO. YOU ALSO HAVE GREAT MORALS, RESPECT & LOVE FOR YOUR DAD, PLUS IT SOUNDS DAMN AWESOME SIR.

Remember, manufactures design for assembly line efficiency, not for repair efficiency. Anytime you run into a "what were they thinking putting this here", you just ran into an assembly line sequence wall. Turned out great.. It's a great truck.

Great series, it's been spurring me on during my personal "dads truck" saga.. it's my father in laws truck, a 2007 Nissan Frontier (4.0, 6mt, 4x4) that was in desperate need of some TLC; calipers, pads, rotors, parking brake shoes, hard & soft brake lines, rear shocks, clutch master, slave & lines... lots of brake fluid & bleeding.. this weekend will be the end of it (for now). I'll be happy to finally stop working on it, and that he will get to use it again. The clutch was a last minute addition - after fixing all of the brake issue, the clutch hard lines decided to blow - they were fairly rotted, like every other hard line at/below frame level on the truck, so it was another parts order, and of course, more brake fluid.

you should run a pcv oil separator keep that engine clean on the inside. The trans has to have the engine on for the torque converter to pump the oil (Check, read, look at the dip sick it has instructions) it will get full if you are not running it check it with the engine on in neutral the distributor oil drive has to line up to where you are dropping in the distributor lol
