My mum works in a job that means disabled clients can be involved (but not always), there was one woman in a job that often intersects with my mum’s who’d been stealing benefit money from multiple of the disabled people for months. When she got found out the Union backed her up and she went on “mental health leave” which made her untouchable. I definitely agree with unions being allowed and that they can do good, but it seriously pissed people not a part of the union and even some who were in the Union ended up leaving because they were disgusted with that woman’s behaviour and livid that she got back up when she’d been doing something like that. She knew exactly how to play the system and was slippery as a loach. Really pisses me off how many people who work with disabled or otherwise vulnerable people will lie, steal, and generally take advantage of their positions.

@@ogunyemid Britain wasn't like it is now, when this was released. Trans wasn't even really a thing. Some older men would cross dress, and that would be about it. It was seen as a fetish though, and not a gender identity. Of course, there was homosexuality and it was accepted as it is today. Just people weren't as "sensitive" back then, to jokes about being gay. I don;t know why younger people want to make LGB into a MASSIVE issue, people have been openly LGB for decades. Trans OK, that's a bit of a different thing. You had "butch" women and "effeminate" men, I know it's a bit stereotypical but that's just the way it was. People just accepted that as part of their character.

I'm a black trans vegan buddhist but still enjoy little britain.

This TV programme is definitely one of my favourite shows. It's so silly but clever at the same time. I love some of the insults Marjory throws at her unfortunate gang and the un PC stereotyping of the characters definitely one of my favourite 00s TV shows.

In Scotland they're proposing that police surveillance microphones be active in every house in order to convict people that utter racist words where no one can hear them. The webcam on your laptop already has built in backdoors for organizations like the CIA, which Edward Snowden has already spoken about at length. Phone cameras are obviously the exact same thing, except also equipped with infrared, GPS, biometric monitoring, etc. The only difference now is that instead of the CIA covertly spying on you, it will be your local police department being required by law to spy on you for your own safety. Just like Apple recently announced that all of their users' files will be harvested and scanned for illegal content some weeks ago.
