That's a great list but among the others, Nanoleaf Lines were the most interesting to me.

Nice setup, but the placement of that TV/HomePods looks terrible, I guess mainly for sound it’s not optimal. I use two HomePod minis with an Apple TV too and it took me a lot of trial and error but wow they sound incredible now. The sound stage is so high and wide and it pushes forward to the extent that certain Dolby Atmos films or shows will sound like they’re beside me. Really incredible once you get them in an optimal position!!

Yeah I’m limited based on my space and other factors. I agree, there are few sound bars or speaker setups for less than $300 that can do a better job, especially for the size.

Great video! How do you like the Minis for gaming? Do they have decent bass etc for most games?
@EricWelander
@EricWelander Жыл бұрын
They are fine for casual use. You are right there’s not much bass. I have a headset for my Xbox which I use for some games. But the lag hasn’t been an issue with HomePod minis. Although I imagine if I was an elite e-sports gamer I would notice it.

Hello Eric, my name is Ken. i’m wondering if you could do a video on Homey Pro I know it’s quite new to North America but I wonder if it would be worth it. Since I am not a computer genius, I would like to know what you think otherwise, I like your videos very much there. Well done. Thank you for listening.

Perhaps ironically, the most interesting segment of this for me was the part on the Unifi talk phone. While I do have a few Ubiquiti products (including a Cloud Key Plus), I had always assumed the Unifi Talk products as 101% for companies. It never occurred to me that it might make sense to get one of those for my home. I do not have any Unifi cameras at the moment, but I intend to get at least one soon and more as time goes on. Once I do have some of their cameras then a device like that small talk phone could be very useful for me.

Haha yes! If you have any slight use for the telephone, that plus the camera viewing is great. Although the UniFi TV portal via HDMI or the Apple TV app are my other favorite way to check on those cameras.

I am wondering why you went for Flic (more expensive and not THREAD) and not for TUO smart switches (cheaper and on THREAD). After hearing about this from Shane, I got two of them, and loving it.

Yes I prefer Flic because they are smaller and have more styling options

As far as I can tell, we can't have our Mac trigger any automations. I'd like to have my desk lights turn on when I power up my Mac similar to how my Theatre lights turn on when I turn on my TV. I may just be missing a trick, but it's still simple enough to have my dumb lamp and dumb LED accent lights plugged into a smart plug.

Yes unfortunately we don't (yet?) have personal automation in Shortcuts on Mac like we do on iPhone. You could do something with a smart plug that has energy monitoring like I think you are mentioning. When power consumption increases above a certain amount on the smart plug, then do something with the lights.
