I miss JSF so much. Have seen my last episode live in TV in 1979. Its time for a comeback! In the 70s there was more european community with borders than today without.

I was there in the crowd in 1975. If you look closely at the end of the first game, you will see people in the crowd holding large letters that spell out Darlington. I was holding the last N. I think I'm correct in saying that the GB equipment broke in our Joker game and they wouldn't allow us to start again - no doubt partly because in most European countries (not in the UK) the programme was broadcast live and they couldn't allow additional time. The following day a few of us decided to go along to the hotel where the BBC people were staying. Stuart Hall came down to reception to meet us but Eddie Waring didn't.

Of course our equipment broke! The Germans equipment never broke of course. And the German team was filled with Olympic decathletes unt red faced hefty Frauleins.

The 1970`s and 1980`s was great years for this show in the 1990`s and on the show just went down hill, for it lost it`s feeling.

What happened to the world where shows like this became obsolete? Is it because people became less relevant in favour of shows geared to so called celebrities? or is it because it didn't fit the political narrative (divide and conquer) as opposed to.... Jeux sans frontières = "Games Without Borders"

This is what the EU should have been about. A bit of fun, but once the competition was over everyone went home until the next summer.

i wish that we can see, in future, another series of jeux sans frontiers!!! but my strongest wish is that we european stand strong together, as a Union of europeans brothers and sisters! I know, the EU has many flaws and problems with all this bureaucracy. We should change a lot of regulations, and make it simpler for every Citizen, worker and entrepreneur. But please please we must stand together! don't let the Euroscepticists destroy our Great Union! We are one of the greatest, if not the greatest, economic powers of the world! Sadly GB is gone, but dont listen to people like Farage,Le Pen, Salvini, Petri, and all those politicians! We must stay united, and we must work for an even better European Union! First of all, since our Union we never had any war between members! And second: if we wanna stay competitive with superpowers like USA, RUSSIA; CINA etc. we have to stay united!

A huge part of my preteen and early teen years. First David Vine, then Stuart "Look at the Germans, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha". Eddie Waring and his feeeeeeel roooog. GB were usually shit, as demonstrated in the first game, completely wasting the joker. The British referee, a ridiculous Northern person called Arthur Ellis in the UK heats, Daaarlintun 4 points, with the joker, dooble it up tuh 7.
@cwsportradio5625 Жыл бұрын
Arthur Ellis was a former football referee who had officiated in the World Cup so was a name
@terranceparsons5185 Жыл бұрын
@@cwsportradio5625 yes, I knew he was a referee, but he came across as a bit of an officious wally. He very much reminds me of the elephant keeper from "ooooooh, get off me foot" fame.

Stuart Hall commentating... Doesn't sound so good now. Given what we know, now. Still. The show was allways brilliant.
@stephenguppy34666 жыл бұрын
I agree, but having said that, there was never anyone better at Knockout than Stuart Hall and of course dear old Eddie Waring.
