That was truly painful to watch. A thumbs up for persistence in helping in the face of adversity (or stupidity)

Thank you for that video! I learned a lot from that. I’ve often wondered what it’s like to go through locks. I can only imagine how much hassle it is to try to make a video while attempting to rescue a boat, but the way you handle that and the tenacity it took two make it happen was great be able to witness!

Something I learned on my own sailboat this summer (before Dorian took her) was that the anchor is useful in pulling you out. Would have saved you a lot of work dropping the anchor with the dingy and pulling the stuck boat towards the anchor.

Wow, that was exciting.. Your buddy boat isn't so experienced? You are an angel to help them. Paying it forward.. Love the sailing community. ⛵️⛵️Layla will be back out on the water in Florida this November.. Have fun at Annapolis

Looking forward to bumping into you both in Annapolis! Going to be a whole bunch of YT channels there: Ruby Rose, Atticus, Delos, La Vagabond, Doodles, you, and I think Jess and Ryan are still hanging around. Do you get an honorary TowBoatUS badge for the number of times you've rescued Vagari? You're a good dude Tim. Tip of the hat to ya! Great to see you again Candice!

Next time keep the tow line short and pull the boat off by the rising water of your prop wash. His motor off as it pulls the water depth out from under the grounded boat 👍

@@CheersWarren My start sailing was on Lake Ontario. Posted a short sail video on this profile if you care to check it out. I've had to rock a few boats in my time. Ran aground in mud trying to get to a new slip up an unmarked channel. Helped a young man with a cute lady in a bikini get off the same mud some weeks later. I told her if he ran out of gas next, she should view him suspiciously. Being members of the same club, he took it well and bought me a beer. I remember loading a dingy with gas and water jerry jugs and hoisting up on it to get a heel on going through Steamboat Channel in the Florida Keys. Plus using movable ballast, it was still touch and go getting through. Fortunately it was a short channel. Lady K has been through my home town going south, and will pass through again on the way to Lake Erie. Last set of locks on the way there in Lockport, NY.

It would help a lot if the people on board would rock the boat port to starboard, get a good wiggle going to help loosen up the keel.

They are so fortunate to have you guys as a buddie boat. I just dont understand why someone would ignore markers like that. Red return right ;) Btw how are the deadheads on that end of the canal? we have seen a few handfuls just below the surface all pointing downstream which is less nervewracking for us but I'm guessing would really suck for you guys. We are passing through lock 28b and 28a today. we will keep our eyes open for ya on our way down. keep safe and see you soon.

I am sorry but those guys are a bunch of dumb assess trying to get you into trouble by being reckless and not learning anything from their already bad mistakes experience. You handlined this very well and not allow a bunch of reckless dumbasses who are shouting bad direction at you instead of being grateful that you are helping them and letting you lead. Given the circumstances and in the moment adrenaline and frustration I think you did very well and eventually took good control of the situation and finally they started listening to you. They also could have healed the boat to help the keel get lose. Sometimes the people problems, dumb asses and egos can be the biggest problems in sailing where a solution could have been trivial if they just relax and think it through logically. Those guys are so luck to have you there and not give up on them. Many have would just left them there once they/we realize they are getting you into trouble as well and not being conscious of their past and present actions which are not changing at all and keep shouting bad directions.
@bob_atwestmi_fl_us78125 жыл бұрын
Boy you have more patience then I do. To get in front of the problems I think you almost need to just raft both boats together. Or sail away during the darkness of night. Just saying....

Were I you, I'd have left them stranded. They don't seem to have the skill set required to navigate an inland waterway and rely on you to bale them out when they screw up. Show some tough love and let loose of your buddy boat..
