Commuted from Aurora to Kent State University during the mid 70's. I watched several E-L trains cross Main St. In Kent. Beauty paint scheme.

Sweet, thank you again. That fusee almost got the conductor when he was about to board the caboose.

The Akron scenes were taken at JO interlocking between Mill and East Market Streets. The tower can be seen at least once beside the Market Street overpass. The E-L crossed the B&O/Pennsy there, and had the straighter route. The at-grade crossings were too shallow for regular diamonds, so they used movable point crossovers, which can be clearly seen in one runby. At one point the photographer was standing in what became the rear of the parking lot for the now former Quaker Square shopping complex that was the old Quaker Oats factory, as well as the Railway Express Agency terminal for Akron.

It's hard to believe that all that is left of the Kent yard is a single rail that ends a few miles down the line. A great bike trail runs beside the old line until the end of the line in Ravenna.

Its very interesting seeing the differences from now and back in the day. These areas are almost not recognizable from back in the day compared to today.

Wow! The good old days. Rail cars free from Graffiti abuse. Who started that stuff. Why are they not accountable for marring private property?
