Satie associated Socrates with the colour white, believing that it suited his personality and essence. (for some odd reason it makes sense to me) In order to get into the white mood (sorry for pun) for writing this piece, he consumed only white foods, such as rice, milk, egg whites, white cheeses, etc. before and during the composing process. I wonder how Satie would have sounded eating only purple foods!!

@@Mr-Prasguerman The closest would be the two-piano version, no vocals. I really like this one.

woah I did not know for orchestra was the original version and someone else created the piano version. Interesting!
@eriksatieofficiel Жыл бұрын
Satie wrote both orchestra and piano solo versions. A two-piano version was arranged by John Cage later. All three versions are on my channel!

@@eriksatieofficiel ooohhh it says in the description that Jane Bathori created the piano version in April 1918 but now I understand that's just a performance, she didn't create it. Oops!

@@Uxcis Yep, "creation" refers to the first performance hehe

@@Mr-Prasguerman I still have a few videos left to upload, mostly 1924 works. Then why not some Poulenc recordings of Satie, since Poulenc knew Satie.
