INTRODUCTION
In his compositional technique, Satie applies repeating elements with simple means.
Satie had nothing to do with the monumentally weighty compositional style of late romantics such as Wagner.
Satie's music is minimalist mood music, original, humorous, sometimes bizarre and sometimes banal.
In 1920 Satie spoke of his music as 'Musique d'ameublement' (furniture music).
THE STYLE IN SATIE'S MUSIC
Satie's way of life was idiosyncratic, striking, remarkable, minimalist, humorous, original and also tragic, perhaps the same way as his style of life.
You immediately recognize that style of Satie's music.
He was a master of melancholic melodies with timing and space, with unorthodox chords. Chords that often convey a poignant emotion.
