9pm Friday Now that the news is apparently out that ETH "will be" sacked, one wonders how that will affect the outcome. A blast for the gaffer, and for oneself, esp as several MUST SURELY know they are also for the door! My head is not spinning on the possible new coach, there are a lot of reasonable candidates (personally, I don't fancy Tuchel, but hey, who cares about my opinion? Not even me tbh after 11yrs of poor choices(?)) and that surely was a push for INEOS to consider further the chop at the top. So will they get it right? 🤔 I would go for a repeat of the experiment of the last 2 games: no CF until later, extra man in midfield to stifle MC interplay with grit and discipline (that means everyone, not just the full backs who do need their best game), and maybe better quality than vs Brighton - the mini-MC, who did get through a bit too often - MC cannot be relied upon to miss so many times. No craziness-into-transition if possession is won, but circulate among the red shirts too, maybe with dummy runs behind, until/unless one is suddenly not a dummy. So McT to start, rather than fresh legs Hojlund, with an extra job of damping Rodri. There will be a swap of Garnacho with Rashford, not sure who should start...and swap sides to see whether the opposite FB (Gvardiol) to Walker can be pressed back a bit, tested with pace behind occasionally. Gvardiol also does not mind a shot of late, so needs to be bothered to keep back... Though, I do wonder who has the top sustained speed between Rash and Walker🤔 - hope the occasion provides a test or two for this, towards the MC net, that is. The firing was deserved, but the timing is kind of embarrassing! With the lack of effective tactics/style of play, strange team choices, and even weirder choice and timing of subs this season, I think it's time for a change. Getting a new manager in sooner rather than later to give them a full pre-season to work on tactics just seems to make more sense. Firing ETH mid-season with little or no time for the new manager to fix things could end up doing more harm than good. Again awful timing and handling of the whole situation by the club.
