I am selling my own handmade wooden products!!
My website: www.grankvist-outdoors.com
I hand-craft my own cutting boards in the log cabin. I can only make a few at a time, so you have to be first to buy one when a batch is released. Every cutting board is signed by hand with its own unique number, representing how every cutting board is unique. They are made from hard nordic oak, making them extremely durable, holding up for a lifetime of abuse. Instead of having a plastic cutting board that really should be thrown away after 2 years.
I was told that my dream of selling handmade products wouldn’t work in today's world where everything is mass produced. I want to prove them wrong. My goal is to expand into other handmade products. Making a series of lifetime quality handmade goods. Breaking free from mass production, supporting our environment.
So check out my website: www.grankvist-o...

We just released our smaller cutting board here: www.grankvist-outdoors.com Thank you for watching the video. Me and my girlfriend make these cutting boards ourselves by hand, so if you want to support the channel we would be very happy if you could check out our website. We have a special limited Christmas sale over there which makes the perfect gift! We are so grateful for everyone who bought from our first batch of cutting boards, they sold out very fast. It means the world to me, that this is made possible. The blacksmith in the video is named Nils. He has his own KZbin channel: www.youtube.com/@nilsogren He is one of the few that makes his own axes by hand here in Sweden. So check out his channel!

Hello Erik. Your channel is great. I’ve been watching you from the beginning of your cabin build. It awesome to see someone build something correctly from the ground up. Today I looked into buying a couple of your medium size cutting boards, however, I found out that you don’t currently ship to the United States. Do I need to say that I am disappointed? Maybe one day……. -RR

Erik, you may find that you want to build a cricket (as we call them in the U.S.) above your fireplace on the roof so that water/snow sheds away from the fireplace on the uphill side of the roof. While you did all your flashings correctly, above the fireplace on the roof is now a big V shape that can hold water and may cause ice damming during the winter. A cricket, is a small roof, in this case shaped like a hip roof would work well, that will shed the water coming from uphill of the chimney to the sides of the chimney. I just had to spend the last week having people install this very thing for me on a house I am building. You have done a great job with building your cabin. Thank you for including us all as you go through this journey.

I really enjoy that you just show how things are done, properly, not reacting to people making things the wrong way. Not that I always totally agree with your methods. It reminds me of my father, when we were going to the store or something he would point to a construction site or something and say "they will have a problem with mold later". It confused me at the time that he didn't tell the builders, but now I know that it's impossible to teach people who don't understand. Leading by example is the best way!

I work construction and we do quite a bit of mud work inside concrete structures from time to time and on vertical surfaces it seems to help the mortar stick if you wet the surface a little bit before hand. Also keep your trowel wet keeps the mortar from sticking to your tool and can give you a really nice finish. You can also wet a horse hair brush and give it a nice finish. Looking good though keep it up man!

@@Divig Roofing in my part of the world has evolved over the years. Middle class and lower middle class homes would have "3 tab" or what is often called "composition" roofing, while upper middle class and up would have cedar shingles and cedar shakes were considered high end. However, cedar shakes gather and hold any small detritus blowing in the wind and that in turn holds moisture and caused them to rot prematurely. So, shakes began falling out of favor probably 30-40 years ago. Better grades of composition roofing, longer lasting, better looking (much better looking) came along and became more popular. What has become all the rage in the last 10 years or so are 50 year metal roofs. They come in many attractive colors and as long as they are installed properly, they really do last a very long time. There's still a lot of composition and the high end comp really looks the best. With that said, I don't trust anyone who doesn't like dogs (cats are nice too) All a dog wants is to love and be loved in return.

I envy your commitment. I recently moved from crowded San Diego to the mountains of Western NC to begin my homesteading adventure. It's not easy, but it's rewarding. Definitely a learning curve as well. Love your video.

I am someone with a computer job. Everything I do is virtual and I am perfectly aware it's stupid, it just makes good money. But I am very drawn to people who actually make something that exists and matters. Beautiful.

Great job! That’s a nice looking fireplace. I really like the way your videos are edited. No music or anything. Makes the whole experience so much more ”real”. Just the sound of nature and the crackling of a fire.. and how beautiful is your girlfriend/wife! Great video as always.

Beautiful home, job well done! Love how every time you fill a bucket with something your dog has a "Is that for me? Huh? Huh? Is it?" look on his face. lol You posted here 9 months ago that you and your girlfriend make cutting boards by hand, but in a video from 5 months ago you say you live alone in the cabin. Not asking what happened, but it takes a special kind of person to do what you do. If you and she have parted ways, I hope you will find a partner of similar heart and mind to share your life with you.

amazing work and dedication and craftsmanship. I'm amazed by the skills, drive, and determination. It's so great to see so many different trade skills and how they are all implented into your home. I'm envious as i have almost zero skills building wise, but i want to be able to do what your doing, maybe someday. awesome awesome.

When you took the time to make sure those logs mated up together instead of chinking it really paid off. Very cozy and no chinking to replace periodically. It was a lot of extra work but that's craftsmanship and well worth the effort
