You mean a group of young men with no professional military experience or training and who relied almost entirely on training and tactical instruction received by their older comrades who at this stage were mostly dead or in jail, were unable to effectively combat the experienced, professionally trained counter insurgency force with the authority to do whatever they want to achieve their objective? Barry, Seán, Peter and Paddy knew what they signed up for and they went bravely into the night fighting for a cause they believed in. No man killed on active service would have complained about their deaths, I have the ultimate respect for ANY man who decides his cause is worth his own life, and that includes members of the British security apparatus. I don't agree politically with them, but they (especially the beat cops of the RUC) were brave men regardless
