Spend $400 or $179? Head to head review of KitchenAid Artisan vs. Aucma Stand mixer

KitchenAid is made in Ohio. Aucma is Chinese. Just in case anyone wanted to know. I was looking into these and wanted to make sure I wasn’t buying something from China.

Kitchen aid is partially made in the USA and parts are made in China.

I started to get the “inexpensive” brand mixer but I was able to find a KitchenAid at about $229. When it comes to stand mixers, KitchenAid is the one brand for me!

Such equipment is bought once in a lifetime. Or it will be once if it's a Kitchenaid. Hobart mixers last a lifetime, requiring only routine maintenance, and then Whirlpool continues the good tradition. I don't think any comparison can be made between the two machines.

But it doesn't last quite a lifetime....I've had my Kitchen Aide for 26 yrs and it's finally done, won't come up to highest speed any more and bogs down. And now that I'm 72 I can't heft it around anymore. I will not replace it, in fact just ordered an Aucma yesterday! I'll let you know what I think of the less costly model!

Sounds like the better solution is probably just to replace the motor brushes though, tbh. After 25 years it's not surprising that they'd wear out, but a set costs only like $7 and they take all of 5 minutes to replace. (Just undo the brush holders -- the two large screw plugs on opposite sides near the middle of the head -- then pull out the worn brushes, pop in the new ones, and screw the plugs back in, to get another 25 years of full functionality.)

I would love to find a mixer priced not to kill my pockets but could give me the performance if a Kitchen Aid. My Kitchen Aid is about 15 years old and it's starting to fail but $3-400 is too steep for my budget right now. I would seriously consider the Aucuma.

The only mixer that can come close to a Kitchenaid for home use would be a Cuisinart of around the same price point. Nothing else comes close unless you move into the ranks of a professional or industrial level machine, and they are usually much less versatile. When it comes to the versatility of attachments available, there is no brand that competes with Kitchenaid, there is a reason people bequeath them in their will when they die. Of course, it all depends on what your needs are. Ferraris and Lamborghinis are amazing cars, but they are terrible if you need something to do your shopping in or carry a bunch of kids to sports practice.

You say nothing comes close, but as this video shows, in the finished product there is like no difference... Other than one may last longer than the other. They do seem to have a good reliability reputation though for sure

company is outta michigan built in ohio, got ours cause our mom shops at khols for her patients at the hospital for like 250$ US. n its probably from Candian parts n USA parts since we can both play catch on the great lakes lmao
