I was amazed to see another owner show how to depress the center of the engine cover pins and simply pop off by pushing from below..no effort or damage to the plastic pins..doah . I used a pry bar on mine!! Great help on cabin filter "gauntlet" and yes, fan pulls air downward.

Great video! I just bought a 2013 RX350 and this is a great segway for me to begin working on this car by myself. I love doing these kinds of projects and saving money. Since you seem pretty knowledgeable, can you please do a video where you clean the mass air flow sensor, throttle body and replace the PCV valve? While you're at it, might as well show us how to do the spark plugs! =)

Want to say "thank you" for creating and publishing this clearly explained extremely helpful video. After viewing for several times found the confidence to take the journey. All has now been successfully concluded. Do wish to also comment on the segment concerning the cabin filter and your information noting: the arrow should be pointing "down". Similar videos posted by others note however the arrow should point "up", unfortunately contrary to your advice. Did call our local Lexus dealer who confirmed the air cabin filter replacement should have that arrow point upwards. Would it be appropriate to correct at this time? Additionally, the eBay link remains active having a price reduction to $14.50 + tax for each set. Thank you.

Aside from testing it in the video, The system sucks air from the outside under the hood down to the intake through the filter, and blows down into the heater coil and system." @@elliotchalew4022 The arrow should point down. The only time an arrow should point up on a cabin air filter for Toyota or Lexus is when the filter says "UP" on it. The filter in this video did not say up. It said "air" indicating air flow which is down. The OEM filter for Lexus and Toyota has an up indicator arrow on it. Have you ever cleaned the MAF sensor and throttle body on this gen rx? I am wanting to, but only can find videos of highlanders. Of course the 10-15 RX used a different filter housing, and they went back to common one in 2016.

I cleaned the throttle body just by wiping when I had it apart in another video. I haven't ever cleaned the MAF sensor but I probably need to, thanks for the video idea!

1:24 the cover marked Up, once you installed the filter down. Is that a mistake?

It seems confusing because there's an arrow on the cover that says 'up' but that could mean the direction in which the cover is installed, though it can really only be installed one way. To be sure I measured the airflow and since the airflow was down, I installed the filter with the arrow pointing down.

The plastic cover does not say air flow on it but as you said it says up. That's there to make sure you put the cover back on correctly. The arrow on the filter element should only point up if it says up next to the arrow. On the brand filter the arrow says "air" which indicates air flow direction which is down. If the air flow was up then the dirt would be below the filter trapped in the blower. Does that sound right to you?

i CAN'T AFFORD A BRAND NEW ONE. bUT i DO BELIEVE HALF THE BATTLE OF AUTO COST IS BUYING THE CORRECT AUTO. I am super mechanical and have lots of tools. I rarely if ever go to the dealer for repairs, unless I absolutely can't figure stuff out. So I don't see why I can't get another 100K or 150K on a lexus RX 350 when I have 260 on my jeep cherokee. The lexus is much better quality.
