Given that Illumination's upcoming movie "Migration' will be directed by the same director of 'Ernest and Celestine', let's see if that movie would have the same kind of heart and humour as this one.
@00square1 Жыл бұрын
This was a very wholesome animated movie. The story is simple and sweet, the animation feels like a children’s book coming to life, and the characters feel real and genuine. Plus. I love the chemistry of the title characters, especially from the performances of forest Whitaker and Mackenzie Foy from the English dub. Definitely a 9/10, but I’m still wondering when the sequel will be released to the west. Also, I heard one of the directors Benjamin renner is currently at Illumination working on a new movie called Migration. Interested in seeing that.

❤️💖 2:45 - 4:10 Wow, I didn't even noticed that this movie does a great job handling the message and theme of discrimination and prejudice just like Disney's Zootopia and Don Bluth's the Land Before Time. 👏🏻 We deserved more animated films having a message and theme regarding prejudice and discrimination just to educate children and audiences why discrimination is wrong and we are all equal as species together. 😃😀😄😁😊😉 👍🏻 💖❤️

Zootopia is a horrendous analogy of racism. Pray animals SHOULD be afraid of predator animals cos the preds kill and eat the pray. It's in their nature, unchanging. But different races or whatever aren't inherently violent! No race is strictly violent. It's a good film, sure. But a HORRIBLE analogy. Land before time is better cos it's herbivores being discriminatory. Everyone's the same but different. Nobody has a real reason to hate on each other, it's literally just 'they're different so we shouldn't mix with them!' Which is all racism is at its core.

I might check this film out someday. Also, there's My Little Pony: A New Generation, which also handles the message of fear and prejudice, I think they also handled it decently. Also, that movie is such a very fun comedy that I honestly wished that DreamWorks would've made it. (As that film actually had quite a few DreamWorks alumni working on it and that Hasbro ALMOST bought DreamWorks in 2014 but failed, so MLP: ANG was close to being a DreamWorks movie).

It’s nice to see an animated film where enemies in nature like mice and bears get along and have a wholesome relationship… Unlike another animated film where mice and bears interacted. With the next Classic Review, my concern with it is that it could ruin a good streak AniMat’s been having with his Classic Reviews so far; especially given the history where it was supposed to be distributed by Sony Pictures Animation but was cancelled until nWave Pictures picked it back up. A film with a troubled production history could definitely have an effect on the final film.
@FeelTheBlaziker Жыл бұрын
Actually, SPA cancelled the Chickenhare movie while in development, but the script was passed to nWave, meaning nWave actually produced the movie from scratch based on the script provided, not from the existing development. Hence, there isn't much production issues in the final product itself.
@hunterolaughlin Жыл бұрын
@@FeelTheBlaziker So maybe there’s still a chance for a decent film.
@FeelTheBlaziker Жыл бұрын
@@hunterolaughlin It actually is for me. It's nWave's best work yet, and I had covered a lot of their movies in the past (gave it an equivalent of 4/5, which is very rare for a foreign CG aniamted movie). A lot of such foreign CG movies on average can go as high as only 2.5 on Letterboxd. Chickenhare is a 2.7, which puts it as above average compared to similar and smaller foreign CG animated movies, which is my speciality when it comes to reviewing animation.

Ernest and Celestine is such a beautiful indie movie, and I can't wait to see the sequel. Also, Animat's gonna review Chickenhare and the Hamster of Darkness next? Given this was imo the best animated movie fron nWave Studios (probably because I watched a lot of movies from that studio), and it's been 7 years since he reviewed nWave's The Wild Life which got a Seal of Garbage, it would be interesting to see on what he thought of it. A majority of the Chickenhare reviews called it really good or better than expected, so we shall see... (Finally, pretty coincidential both Ernest and Celestine and Chickenhare were from the same countries of Belgium and France...)

Gabrielle Vincent had a long written relationship (i.e. they never met but wrote many letters to each other) with Daniel Pennac, a former high school French language teacher turned writer of quirky hard-boiled novels and children's books. When she passed away, her son finally allowed someone to adapt her books into animation, and Pennac was chosen as the script writer. He pretty much wrote a book (that has since been published) on which the movie is based. It goes a bit more in depth, and is a nice read for children 7 and up. And, like the movie, has enough depth to be a somewhat entertaining read for adults - at the very least, thanks to its narrative device (I won't spoil it to you - get it, read it, give it to your kids for a read). It's a work of love : the main director had his daughter playing Célestine in the original French dub, it was her first playing part and she NAILED it ! She knew the books by heart and the character had no secret to her, her voice is a perfect match for how Célestine came out. She took the role in all subsequent adaptations : the TV series and the sequel.
