Hi Jacaranda Music, Thank you for your knowledgable input. I liked to perform this piece on the Spanish Style Panormo guitar with the idea of being close to what was more or less easy to obtain for an English guitarist in Shand's time. On the other hand I am happy you mention the Guitar method by Shand and the preference he had and did point out in it concerning the instruments. Next time I'll play someting by Ernest Shand I'll give it a go on one of those! Wonderful music anyway! Best, Alex.

A lovely performance of a lovely composition! Humbling, how much music there is out there, how little of it most of us really know... Had I known this piece before, I would have gladly admitted that the 2nd movement of my Mimose had been influenced by it. Perhaps by some sort of mysterious telepathy across the ages...

In case anyone is wondering about playing Shand's pieces from around 1900 on a guitar that was out of date by that time, his Method Op 100, published in 1896 mentions the various guitars Shand recommended, and they are all of the type popular in the first half of the century, to quote; "Lacote was the best maker of Guitars; and many good instruments can be found amongst old French, Italian and Spanish models". His whole technical approach, not his musical language, was of that earlier time.
