I know this is random but want to see if anyone has anything to say about it: I am a player of 30+ years. I've owned dozens of guitars. Currently I have 15. Anyway, of the fifteen, 3 are Gibson SG's and 2 are Gibson LP's. Yet my favorite, nicest sounding, best feeling "Gibson" guitar is an Epiphone LP Standard. I've owned some Epiphone duds, but they built this one right. Neat when you get a cheep one that ends up being a sweetheart. Anyway, good stuff Dave. Love the channel.

Another great video, Dave. If you're having trouble seeing the 1/64" calibrations on your Stooge Mac measurator, you can use a 5/64" drill bit as a feeler gauge. Roll the plain end of the bit over the 17th fret, and if the string moves, it's too low...etc. It's the same as those guitar string feeler gauges I sent a while back. Cheers man!

that's probably the first non-fender, non-ric bass that I've really liked. was that maple body, too? That neck looked pretty curved in radius, know what it was? Why oh why is Dave planning on putting flatwound strings on a stingray? I hope that is because the owner asked for that. In which case he should have his head examined. And I like the previous commenter giving some memorable love to Charles Meeks from the Chuck Mangione group who played a stingray. Extremely good bassist with a great sound, and could slap and pop putting many other to shame.

No, Dave, round wound strings ought to have more surface area than flat wound. because of the height of the windings off the core.
@Nabbehh8 жыл бұрын
Wouldn't that just be gauge?
@SArthur2218 жыл бұрын
the surface of flat wounds would be like this: -------- while the surface of round wounds would be like this: _/__-\-_-/-\_ ascii doesnt help me ilustate this, but the winds create ridges that have a surface area
@Nabbehh8 жыл бұрын
+Atihcin pretty sure he means surface area parallel to the force being applied on the strings
@SArthur2218 жыл бұрын
1) "surface area" means the size of the surface of an object, 2) parallel to which force? there are multiple forces at play here, that are not in the same direction. the maybe you mean tension? this makes me wonder: is this "surface area" explanation the correct one?
@SArthur2218 жыл бұрын

I have two SR 5 and a SR 5 Classic. And a SR 4. I had two Bongo 5 HH, one with all rosewood neck, body in Sterling Silver, the other VTB AMN, out of the premier dealers serie. And a BigAl 5 SSS. After 2 years I sold these three basses, because they couldn't give me the ammount of "more" I expected when compared to my StingRays. So StingRay all the way! ...and a Carvin SB 5000, two Fender Precision basses..... and some more. I have to stop before I get started with my amps.
