Probably the greatest guitarist of all time in terms of the sheer volume of epic riffs created. There’s 20-30 Metallica songs where you could just play a small sample of the riff only and people everywhere instantly recognize it’s Metallica. That’s hard to do, most bands maybe have a handful at most. Such a creative genius with music. Granted not the most technically gifted guitarist or whatever but that’s not what inspires an entire generation and kirk has managed to do that.

If you remember the film "Some kind of Monster" Mr Hammet declairs to withdraw totally from personal ego. Those days, he was and on, till now is consequent; as we see. He is his unusually modest, sensitive hard working person. And it looks like, he is right, and his attitude missing an ounce of aggression. Mr Hetfield, Mr Ulrich would not withdraw from the huge business called Metallica. Mr Hamett can really afford it with Mr Robert Turillo. That makes a difference, if anybody compares the personalities. Respect, Sir Hammet. Poland loves You!

Kirk singlehandedly (no pun intended) inspired me to practice tremolo picking and therefore shredding. I'm the sloppiest shredder ever-- but I'm a bass player first and foremost, and that fast alternate picking technique has been carried over from guitar to bass. Really spiced up my bass playing. Thanks Kirk!

8:42 Just realized that we've all been playing Damage, Inc. wrong for the past 30 years. Every single tab out there has him sliding the entire 4th chord up a fret (and then later down a fret), but he's clearly just hitting the top note almost arpeggio style (then doing a single fret pull-off later). Mind blown.

Unfortunate to see some not so positive comments. I personally commend the editor and and Kirk for deciding to leave the imperfections in on the final cut. It's rare to see flaws from an awesome musician and I consider this a treat that further supports his comments on being an inspiration to other people. Even greats have faults but that doesn't stop them from pursuing perfection. Furthermore, I don't know him personally, but he seems pretty down to earth and for him to be okay with the final cut just emphasizes that. (Just my two cents) Good job Ernie Ball and good job Kirk.
@mastocytoma18 жыл бұрын
Everyone complaining about Kirk being sloppy or having poor technique. Technique, or "by the book" has never been the golden pillar of guitar playing. Everything from the Blues musicians of the past, to the introduction of rock music itself was counter to the concept of "proper" playing in their respective days. Jimmy Hendrix........amazing guitarist........sloppy as hell and all over the place...........yet will be remembered forever. Rock has NEVER been about perfection. Let the man get old and appreciate the fact that he's part of a band that's lasted 4 decades in an industry where most fail after a year, like them or not.
