Very enjoyable symphony! When I read that Mielck died of TB two days before turning 22, I was saddened (never having heard of him til a few minutes before looking him up on Wikipedia). I just had to listen to this symphony... Oh! What would he have accomplished...

I hear style similarities to Dvorak and Niels Gade in this symphony. Very enjoyable symphony.

A "classic" romantic symphony but had Mielck lived to musical maturity he may well have equalled or even surpassed Sibeliius

Only the 3rd movement seems interminable, the rest is excellent.
