It might have to do with the spray paint he used... colors and brands that work well with plastics are limited, so that might have been the closets color match.

+Alice C But at the same time you can't just reduce his work down to "did he get the skin tone exactly right?". At the end of the video you clearly saw a doll that had a very strong Nikki vibe, and while not being spot on, it was a great way to honor her with his own work. It's extremely hard to perfectly match skin tone, and you can tell he tried to soften up the darkness of the over all body paint with the colours he applied over top. It's not as if he intentionally made the doll darker than Nikki actually is (and I think we all know the doll is darker). He was in the correct spectrum, and very much did justice to the cute, bouncy artist that is Nikki Minaj. In the end, it's a pullip doll. And that doll ain't look like no one but an over exaggerated anime character anyhow.
