I never realized how collectable errors were in the past. But recently, I've noticed how much more unique errors can be. I skipped a Ken Block Fiesta missing the front wheels, but then I was told they were special so I drove back as quickly as possible to buy it! :D This video's helped me see the other possible errors to spot.

Good talk. It's a shame that more and more people try to collect things for the monetary value rather than the joy of collecting. They think because it seems rare it's worth more money. But like you said, it's only worth what someone is willing to pay. Loving those T-buckets. They remind me so much of one of my all-time favorite castings, the Hot Heap!!

Since they come from maylasia and someone makes a profit even at $1.00 each , I'm not shocked that quality control is about as reliable as a plumbers estimate . I had a summer job in a Plant that made bottled items and the job paid really well in 1974 . I spotted the odd bad plastic bottle and a chipped glass one right at the screw-on cap spot , there were even defective screw-on caps that would have just made it into the box for retail stores. The pay made me want to keep the job ........maybe some of the workers fear being seen as a malcontent pointing out minor issues when the Stores might catch serious error and treat like damage inventory and eat the loss.
@thisisacrummyname2 жыл бұрын
Baseball cards & Pokémon cards are made with way huger profit margin, yet they still high standards with quality control. Though when either one of them have an error it’s worth allot more then a regular card.

I agree. There's no physical price guide on errors because errors are not planned by the company. So, if you come up to an error, make sure you found it, don't buy errors off eBay or someone you don't know because that error might have been orchestrated.

Is there a quality control to correct the problem. Or, does Mattel just let them go to keep up profits up. The toy is only one dollar, but they are making so many they don't care about the quality of their product? When people buy defective products just lets them to improve their quality control. It's a big problem in Super Treasure Hunts. Allowing workers selling them on eBay. If Mattel doesn't take pride in their product how can collectors give more value on them? I love collecting Hot Wheels but should be in MINT conditions. Don't buy errors make them improve the quality. This is my opinion.
@DavidSmith-ei2xn7 жыл бұрын
Most Hot Wheels are made in China or Taiwan...the standards are not as high as made in U.S.A. Many times, some parts outnumber the # of cars of any particular model. So left over parts can be and are used (waste not, want not). I collected variations because they were purposely produced...errors are also fun to buy, but it takes an avid collector to spot them. Like the guy said on the video, value is subject to what a person is willing to pay. I have well over a thousand HW...My collection will go to my daughter when I die...I have many rare variations and treasure hunts...I am hoping that when she reaches my age, she will be able to average $5.00 per car.

I specialized in errors. ASW, ALW, missing tampos, fenders, etc. USUALLY if it`s a fake it does not "feel right" as soon as I inspect it. It even got down to using a 10x loop to inspect pixels on the card.

And of course, I also see cars w/random wheels missing paint every now and then. My first sighting of the current HW Exotics 5-pack was at a Walgreens, and noticed that the right front wheel on the Lotus was unpainted. When I went back a week later (to check for Maisto restocks or THs), it was gone. 5-packs are pricey at Walgreens, so I'm pretty sure that it either went to an error collector or someone who thought they could make money off of it (in the case of the latter, good luck to them)

On a normal Gotta Go, the seat moves up and down as the car rolls; on our Gotta Go, you have to move the seat manually. errors are my fav to collect because when people go after the t-hunts they skip over some that that can be a true 1 of 1. one of my strangest error is a winner's circle race car that one of the wheel axles weren't flared all the way so one of the wheels are lose in the package
@sdy01086 жыл бұрын
I like additive errors because there's a lot of counterfeit errors out there and unless you find it on your own anyone can take wheels, tempos, windows and wheel paint without taking out the bottom flair but it's near impossible to put extra tempos, wheels, wrong paint or extra parts

@racegrooves10 жыл бұрын
6674shorty That is not the correct use of the term 'scalper'. A scalper is somebody who takes a currently available item and re-sells it at a higher price. On that note, if you find something in the stores and you want to buy them all, that is your prerogative. Whether you buy them for yourself to hoard, to give to friends or to re-sell, they are yours to do with whatever you decide.

(I bought it in 2011, so it was already 10 years old.) Weirdest error: a 2011 HW series Olds 442 which has a square cloth of fabric attached to it.
