Errors are fun to collect but you should know how easy it is to reproduce them. In this video I show you how they can be made and give a few tips on what to look for.

They only sell for a lot, for example, if they are already a highly desired issue; the error enhances the desirability some, sometimes a lot. That said----as with coins, knives, stamps, comic books, old tools, antiques's----Caveat Emptor. Thank you so much for educating especially young kids----many of whom use hard-earned money to collect---and "older kids" who can learn as well. As for the A--holes out there considering doing this to make a "dime" off someone's ignorance? Street justice sometimes occurs. Not often....but sometimes.

Tuff to watch this video being an error collector. I have purchased a few fakes myself. Odds are if someone is asking a lot for an error, it's probably fake. Or if the error seems to crazy to be true. Despite the risk of fakes, I still buy second hand but only from people I trust. Even in the best attempts, reglued blisters are still easy for me to spot in hand. In buying fakes I have learned how to better spot them for next time. Sad that people do this, and sad that real collectors have to make videos to call it out. Thanks for the video...

Thanks! I have been subscribed to your channel for some time now and I appreciate your help to learn more about car's of my youth as well as current ones. I had not heard anything about error car's, but this is mostly nostalgic for me. Solomon's credited with the phrase there is nothing new under the Sun. You have reinforced those words! If something is expensive surely more of them will occur. Had you heard the story of a few gold coins produced after the US had ceased production in the 1930's something like 8 were made by unscrupulous mint workers and the Federal Government went to great lengths over the span of much time and got them back. I think that the story of Sysyphus is what those who purposely fake a defect deserve, instead of a lot of extra money.

Looking at the rivet can be miss leading as well. Ive seen videos where u can take a high wattage soldering gun and heat the rivet making the plastic base hot enough where it will pull over the rivet with no distortion. Just crazy the ideas people would do to make a buck. Only errors i consider with a grain of salt is rivet errors where they smash parts when the car is put together. Thanks for the videos enjoy the content and tips you provide Thanks.

A lot of good info here. Wow! I have bought a few Hot Wheels over the past few years, but only from Walmart. Not a collector I just like them.

How easy would a reversed chassis be to fake? One of the errors I've found has that; headlights on the back, exhaust pipes sticking out the front.

Great job, thankyou! One question I have though, if you see one of those errors in the store like on a shelf or in a dump bin, is it an error? Since I don't think a counterfeiter would go and put back an "error" car in a store.

Hi ,I would take a picture of the item in the wild,at the store plainy in view to validate where you bought it and show its codition at the time of purchase,:)

I bought a backwards windshield Porsche Hotwheels at Wal-Mart. Found the correct one to go with it and show the mistake. One of my favorite cars.

I remember Guys doing that acetone trick back in the late 90s when Hotwheels treasure hunts and first editions were stupid crazy popular. You can't even imagine what it was like hunting Hotwheels back in the late 90s. Its like a tour in Vietnam, still have flashbacks.

Say, I was browsing some HW the other day in a local supermarket and I saw a Honda Racecar in a Honda Odyssey blister but I didn't pick it up. Did I miss on something?

Easy way around is buy your error from the stores, assuming they weren't tampered with first. All eight of mine were picked up from shops, some card errors, missing axles, badly spun & a paint error

Hi, I have a hot wheels package error, how do I find what it’s worth?
@iambiggus7 жыл бұрын
Would you still be able to smell the residual acetone on the package? Might be one way to tell? Acetone stinks, and the odor is hard to get rid of entirely.

@baremetalHW I know this is old, but with all those plastic base, isn't there ways to make an error car removing stuff inside of the car while heating up the base and not drilling the rivet?

Very interesting that people are doing counterfeit errors. Luckily I'm not into errors myself but I know others like to find them. Good info to keep in mind.

Can an error be that the base is completely smooth? No detail, no hot wheels logo, you can even see the wheel hooks I have a forza edition bone shaker idk if that is a common error, some one please answer. I don't really plan on selling it or something I just want to know if that is a thing

But if its in the blister and it has been opened with acetone cant you just smell the package and see if there is acetone smell?
@nicholmansgarage35016 жыл бұрын
I on e found a matchbox in the blister sideways at the store for regular price. This was factory, since it came from the store. However, I now know not to buy expensive "ERRORS" from random sellers. Thanks! :)

Wonder if there is an easy/cheap way to see if any acetone/etc was applied to the packaging.

What about upside down car in the package not tampered?
