It would be interesting to see levels of support for a Cornish Assembly - the only place seriously campaigning for devolution at the moment.

“This event took place on 9th November” - Which year? If you can’t even get that detail in, one has doubts about the rest of the content

Maybe I have the wrong kind of Englishness. Given the options of English or British I'll always say I'm English. Just like given the options of British or European I'll say I'm British. Or the options of Midlander or English I'll go with Midlander. I don't think that "feeling more English" and "being pro Brexit" necessarily go together; as in correlation does not imply causation. If you're asking about nationality, I would classify England as a nation (but not the Midlands), therefore I would say my nationality is English. Which in no way diminishes my feeling of Britishness; I feel just as proud as any Scot when Andy Murray kicks some Spanish/Swiss/Serbian arse. I'm not a massive fan of devolution as I'd much rather we could collectively reach agreement, but if that's what those countries/areas want, then so be it. What I find strange is that the UK Government is de facto the English Government, they really should be two separate things. So either have a separate English Government (or split English into regions, whatever) or just get rid of devolution all together. Don't really mind which, but it's the status quo that's weird. On a separate (but tangentially related) note, less Government meddling would be great, I guess you'd classify this as small government. Which again doesn't necessarily imply I'm advocating for local governance, less dictatorship from everyone please. You lost me a bit with the George Orwell comments at the end. "Freedom is more important than equality", I mean if you have to choose then sure, freedom is more important, but there's no reason not to have both. What people seem to struggle with is that equality of opportunity and equality of outcome are diametrically opposed; one persons equality is another persons discrimination. So saying "we want equality" in the abstract isn't particularly helpful. Sadly equality of outcome is the current fad, which seems to be deeply unfair to vast swathes of the population. P.S. Why is it so hard to get the bins collected, this hardship is felt up and down the "country".
