I’ve been waiting for a performance/recording of this to drop since it’s series of high profile premieres across the world! Thank you so much NDR!

This is just an extraordinary piece! The genius of Salonen perfectly capturing the power of an organ with the orchestra; wonderful! Feels like Jongen’s Symphony concertante and Widor’s Symphony for Organ and Orchestra were combined. Brilliant! Now we just need a streaming, digital, and CD release!

Thank you very much for this great comment. We are also very enthusiastic about Salonen's conducting. We're pleased that the piece appeals so much.
Excellent piece! Some really amazing moments. Lots of fusion, even some medieval elements in there! Beautiful and inventive colours and of course brava to Iveta Apkalna who played a challenging part! Bravi to the orchestra as always. I am glad Maestro Salonen has been able to devote more time to composing.

Interesting how an organ nowadays can take the same place as a grand piano in front of an orchestra! And without knowing so much about Esa- Pekka Salonens composing I still find this music fascinating.

wonderful! I noticed that Salonen or Apkalna changed the section at 31:21 and 32:02 ? I liked the Olivier Latry take on that part a bit better! but anyway, the concert and the orchestra was phenomenal!

Wow great music with great musicians and concert hall !!! The audio quality is superlative, even in 128Kbps... Is it possible for you to upload a 4K version of this wonderful video footage?

Thank you, happy to hear this!! Regarding the audio quality - this standard is as high as we can go for at the moment, I am afraid.

Absolutely wonderful work. The deeply disappointing thing about the NDR's video is how relatively few shots there are of Salonen, and how very few actual closeups, as there are many with the musicians and soloist.
@NDRKlassik3 ай бұрын
Well, we hope you'll find some closeups in our KZbin-playlist of Esa-Pekka Salonen: kzbin.info/aero/PLpINuL5yse2fsLGf62_WsjN3FdA6shEeJ

Too retro for some....too abstract for others. That's how contemporary music often presents itself.

Thank you! But I doubt that music that could have been written at least 50 years ago can really be considered as "contemporary".

I am totally unable to appreciate any of this - for me music really stopped at the romantic composers - and I would include Sibelius as one the last great. But I must have been very ignorant and not able to understand anything from the modern composers.

Music consisting entirely of sound and scoring, without any musical substance - the notes are merely decorative within the whole and quasi-thematic ideas are entirely random and have no character.
