My grandfather passed a month before this brilliant concert was recorded. He used to be an organ restorateur, working for the company Kern in Strasbourg, France. He travelled all over the world - mostly in the 70s and 80s - to fix, install and build organs. Bach was his favourite. I take this as his eulogy. Farewell, I will forever miss you grandad. Really? I just see talented, hardworking musicians. In general, the human race are scum. Do I really need to prove that?
@historicwine12834 жыл бұрын
@@jjaus Violence and terror are almost ubiquitous throughout the animal kingdom, and humans are, after all, just animals. The fact that humanity can't _instantaneously_ escape from this base condition, but must instead climb its way out _gradually_ over the course of millennia, is not evidence that our species is fundamentally corrupt in some special way. On the contrary, this lengthy and difficult process is to be expected, and that any kind of moral advancement has occurred _at all_ is remarkable in and of itself. It is irrational to judge the rate of human progress according to a fanciful standard of supernatural perfection.
@jjaus4 жыл бұрын
@@historicwine1283 You are deluded. Humans have been around for more than 200,000 years in their current evolved condition. Just how many millennia do we need?
@historicwine12834 жыл бұрын
@@jjaus Homo sapiens appeared roughly 200,000 years ago, but did not evolve the capacity for language until 100,000 years ago at most (although 75,000 years is probably closer to the mark). This is crucial because language--specifically, _human_ language--is the necessary condition that makes any kind of intraspecific cultural progress possible at all. So one _partial_ answer to your reply (which, incidentally, is not at all in conflict with my initial point) is that it took language-capable humans between 88,000 and 38,000 years to develop agriculture _from nothing,_ and then another 12,000 years to get to where we are now. In evolutionary terms, less than the blink of an eye. How long will it take, from here on out, for the species to attain a _satisfactory_ degree of civility? Nobody knows the answer to that, not only because social systems are probably far too complex to make such projections in general, but also because the rate of change, in this respect, reached an unpredictable level of rapidity in the last century.

I play this video everyday when my daughter (nearly 4) takes her afternoon nap. I’d like to think this music makes her brain smarter. I must confess that I know this music from an Atari computer game from 1984 called Stealth. Like most of the kids of my generation, videogames and cartoons were our first real education in classical music. Hah. I must also confess that when I watch this video, my attention is drawn to the violinist with the glasses in the background to the organist’s left. She reminds me of my college sweetheart, who has been living in my head for entire adult life and who I love and miss dearly, even though I haven’t seen her since the time of the OJ Bronco Chase. Such thoughts are likely to end with doctors putting me on heavy medication and fitting me for a straight jacket. Oh, well. It is what it is. Anyway, great video, thanks for allowing these to appear on KZbin Kids.

I like this performance much better, splendid feeling for the musical content and better registration. THANKS Iveta, being an organ player myself I keep analysing your performance. I think why she is looking so hard and strict is her concentration on her playing. If you make music and put your full concentration on the play of the music, you have no time to think about your looking, if you look nice or strict. I play the violin and I also sometimes look strict or angry during playing the instrument. Other people say to me sometimes , that I have looked strict or angry and that I could look nicer during the play. But I cannot take notice on my face look during the playing.
