I use a tiny “Speedster” alcohol stove with mine, it works perfectly. I love this little stove for its simplicity, ruggedness and for the fact it works in all conditions every time. Thank you for your review of this neat little kit! 👍🏻

Thank you for a great, precise video of the Esbit stove, you nailed all the great features of a basic but functional stove. I noticed when you showed your wind screen one of the hinge pins slid down. I had this happing on mine and cut a 1/4 inch off each pin and crimped the ends. Problem solved, happy hiking!

Hi. An excellent video presentation there on the esbit system. I'm in Ireland and have purchased the same system, have modified it like you have, tested it and am looking forward to using it in the outdoors. I think it's handy, reliable and efficient. I also have a homemade windshield for it. With this system you have demonstrated the value of simplicity. Also prefer this system as I don't like hiking with pressurised gas container in my backpack. Excellent and many thanks. Breiffni.

Thank You Breiffni! I apologize for the delay in replying. Life has be quite chaotic as of late! I completely agree with you assessment of this great cook set! I was blessed to have the opportunity to Wild Camp in Ireland about 18 years ago. One of the most beautiful places I've ever visited! I would love to return someday! Thank You For Commenting! My first viewing of your channel, I enjoyed it. Liked your straightforward presentation review and the quietness of your video's background free of loud music, easy to listen to your clear voice. About the Esbit stove. I own that one and also the alcohol Trekker version of it (two pot version). Love them both, however, the one pot version is my GoTo favorite as a jacket pocket system or for tucking into my fanny pack. I have also used a small wood chunk in it instead of the Esbit tabs. Just sometimes for the cooking flavors of Hickory Wood. I buy those little BBQ wood chunks in Walmart at the Weber BBQ isle in the store. Doing it offers a nice change up. I especially LOVE the size of that kit too! Perfect for brew-ups or instant oatmeal on the fly. Thanks again for your enjoyable video.

I enjoy this stove and find that if one cuts the tablet in two and then place them in the stove on their sides they are more effective. Also, if one takes a couple of pop cans and makes a wind screen this stove will heat up water in under 10 minutes. (There are plenty of KZbin videos on making your own windscreen for your stove). The Esbit stove that I bought, looks like this one, is made out of aluminum, is 7.9 oz in weight. when backpacking I boil water and place the water in a freezer bag where the dinner is waitin. My Pocket Rocket and titanium pot weigh in at 8.4 oz., so I think this is a very nice product for backpacking. (I use both at different times). It's funny, I prefer the Esbit stove set up. Finally, I think this product is a kick to use as it is designed so well and is just neat. Thanks for the video.

Solid fuel stoves have their place. I started off making my stove videos focusing on solid fuel stoves as I found they are under represented on KZbin (at least at the time I published them). I was trying to produce content that wasn't on everyone's channel. I have a lot of stove videos that are not solid fuel stoves.

Great video John, glad to see you on KZbin sharing your knowledge. I'll have to get one of those stoves for long days on the trapline.

i made a bespoke fancy feast for mine, as i was never gonna use solid fuel. i'd love a titanium version, to use as a twig stove, as well as alcohol.

I've been using this cookset for almost 3 years with my diy alcohol stove. just a simple trick on using alcohol stove, this works also on trangia alcohol stove. put 2 tent pegs, or rod, or a couple of nail on top of the pot stand before putting the pot. I hope this helps

Hi John, Good Video - Great Idea on the Bolt Feet! Have you ever tried to use twigs in place of the fuel tabs now that you have feet that will not melt?
@boonedockery72203 жыл бұрын
I have not. I will add that to my "to do" list though. I would say it should function well as the anodized stove is fairly substantial! As far as Aluminum Cookware/Stoves go, ESBIT makes a superior product (IMHO).

@@boonedockery7220 - I will look forward to your experiment. I am very interested in a long-term sustainable solution with fuel that can be foraged (twigs/needles/etc) for this type of lightweight pot system (pot and stove less than 8 oz) and your solution to the "melting" feet seems to be the final hurdle to making this possible with this product.

I am wondering if it is possible to put gas stove, without canister, into the nest instead of solid fuel.
@boonedockery72203 жыл бұрын
It would depend on the stove type and configuration. The set is fairly small.
