Breton isn't a romance language it's Celtic like Welsh, Cornish or Irish or Scottish Gaelic.

I'm from and living in Brittany but i dont speak britton but every year in City of Lorient on August, there is a biggest festival in the world about celtic music from all celtics nation including ( irish, welsh, asturia, Galicia, Cornwall , Island of Man, etc..) This summer festival is about meeting our celtic cousin and common culture all around the world with music, languages, danse .. Its also a moment to be and celebrate our love about family and ancestor. The fun IS great because you dance with old and young people during one week. Celtic mood is between warrior and poetics, Magic and never complains, optimistic and fatalism, you are what you do not what you think.

Very cool vibe, something totally different, and this is why I love Eurovision. Great to listen to, thanks to the intricate harmonies and instrumentation. I really like it!

I quite like this and it was my favourite in the French selection from the beginning - although I figured they'd never pick it. It's both ethnic and clubby and I'm here for it. Not totally sold on the live performance but it honestly does not take much away from the song. It's not a terrible performance... I just think to do REALLY well they'll need to kick it up a notch nore. Because they could do great this year. I agree about "Shum". And also there are echoes of "Water" from Bulgaria in 2007. We needed this song in 2022.

I'm Breton and hope that an extended version of this song will be released later, something about 4 or 5 mn max. "Fulenn" is a mystical captivating entry. The lyrics tell about a maiden who's dancing with the Devil in the woods all night long. That's what explains the mysterious atmosphere conveying something related to witchcraft and old pagan celtic gods. Green colour is by far a very good choice for the staging: it clearly refers to the forest and above all oak trees that matter so much in Breton Celtic spirituality.

Breton is a celtic language very similar to what great bretons spoke before northern and roman invasions. Anterior to the roman empire.

Gauls and Armoricans were also celtic tribes and their language existed before Roman overtake of Gaul, it isn't a Romance language even if a lot of the more recent vocabulary comes from Latin. Some Britons came to Brittany after the Anglo-Saxon invasion (before Normans invaded England) and their language was mixed with Armorican.

The Bretons were not fleeing the Normans but the Anglo-Saxons, 300 or 400 years before the arrival of the Vikings and 500 years before the conquest of William the Conqueror. No St Patrick or Halloween in Midwest ? Because it is celtic.😁 In 1996, France already send a song in breton. In 1998, the second best sale of singles in France was a mix of traditional breton music with rap. And there were also hits with rock and electro. France did not wait for Shum or Tanxugueiras or some other obscure foreign group to do so.

I've seen a lot of comments on internet about the cultural appropriation in this song, so for people who will read this : As a French woman, raised in Bretagne (french region), I swear there is no cultural appropriation here. It's, for the Bretons/Breizhad, the traditional instruments, the lyrics are in traditional language (breton) and in France it's very controversial to speak a regional language and not French. They singing in their native language and music is in traditional style with electro to modernize the song.

I don’t think that’s their native language.

Literally in my top 5, that uniquely ritualistic, gargoyle-like vibing and occultist entry of /Fr*æAn*Cæe/6*6*6, alongside with Poland, Norway, Romania, UK. And, the runner-up to the top 5 or for now on 6th place then that would be Azerbaijan. Greets from Denmark - And,yeah, a big no to putting my country's entry on top 5 this year, I can tell you that much. Not worth it this time. Perhaps in top 10,tbh,though..lol...🥴😂😅😉🤘👍💪🌈💎

France is definitely the most-improved of the 5 automatic qualifiers I agree, but I don't think it's fair to say all 5 are consistently weak. For UK, Germany, and Spain sure, but I think you're forgetting Italy which has been extremely strong in most recent years.
