The morning after the contest I flew from Copenhagen to Stockholm. Sanna and the Swedish delegation were on my flight. The entire airplane erupted in cheers when the flight attendants congratulated her over the loudspeaker for her third place. Sanna stayed by the door and greeted every passenger as we were leaving the aircraft.

Ooo! *YES*. This was the last Swedish entry that I really, truly liked. I felt that all the Swedish entries after this were sterile and calculated. As much as I enjoyed "I Can't Go On", I only enjoyed it because Robin's backing dancers were so fabulous. Sanna was actually standing in a ring of spotlights that were shining up.

What gets me every time with this performance is hearing how the audience is singing along with her. You can especially hear it in the beginning of the song. I understand it was a lot of swedish people in the audience so thats probably why they knew the lyrics, but still, it's just so remarkably beautiful that the audience is acting as her backing choir just simply because they love the song.

Send something like this again,Sweden please.
@Asa...S6 жыл бұрын
I think that will be very hard. Since 2015 Melfest uses an app for voting, so since then there are more very young kids who are voting a lot. While an adult might vote 1 time for the song they like, the kids vote 10 times or more for their favorite. And the tweens usually go for good looking boys dancing and singing catchy songs, rather than women singing a song like this.
@abduljaliltv49506 жыл бұрын
Åsa S ah, so sad, the system should be changed. After Sanna Sweden always sends the radio friendly ones. I know that the juries also like what they send on ESC, but we feel it's kinda boring
@rickardelimaa6 жыл бұрын
What a weird explanation. Does it cost to use the app? Otherwise, it's quite easy to limit the app voting to just one vote. * *quick googling* * OK, so you're allowed to vote 5 times with the app and up to 20 times with televote and SMS. "the kids vote 10 times more" explanation doesn't hold in that case.
@Asa...S6 жыл бұрын
Rickard Elimää So if a kid votes 5 times with the app and 20 times with sms on their favorite artist, and an adult votes 1 time on their favorite artist, then the artist the kid likes is getting 25 times as many votes.
@Thaleya16 жыл бұрын
Honeslty most swedes don't vote i think. And those who do either votes as a family...or they vote individually, one vote per family member = usually mor ekids than adults. Or the adults just forfeits their votes and let the kids vote. Also In sweden we often have too many good entries soo everyone divides their votes to different people...sometimes making a good entry disappear between others that are more standout as funny or just with a hot male singer... To be honest i voted for Eric Saade because he was hot, not because the song was good. I

My personal winner (along with Hungary) that year. I’m sure it’s already mentioned on the comments but Sanna won MelFest on her 7th try. Her first attempt was at 16 in 2001. Another interesting fact: because “undo my sad” didn’t made sense, they added the word “love” to make sure people can understand it. Sometimes I joke around and sing “undo my seasonal affective disorder...” lol

I love the big pop songs* of esc, but this stunning ballad is possibly my fav esc song. After Sweden's 2018's disaster of a song and their recent years performances, they need to go back to this - a big song, simple but powerful, but rely of on the song rather than gimmicks. (*I don't know if you have heard Sanna's other songs, she did a great upbeat anthem of a song: I'm In Love at Melfest 2011)

INTERSTING FACT Since 2011 Sweden's positions have been 3, 1, 3,14, 1, 5, 7, and now 5 in 2019 (after the results were corrected.) We never mention the results 2010 and before because there is nothing to be proud of. I used to watch the competition from 2004- 2010. Google tell me we came in 6, 19, 5, 18, 18, 21 place and didn't qualify at all 2010. Yeah I am serious. We brag a lot about recent years but we forget to mention that part! ;) I don't like the recent songs and think we get a great place in the final because people love to vote for us since we won. I don't think we actually deserve to come in the top 5 and 7 in recent years.
