@@ulty1472 You need to make an original song for that competition, and while the singing is obviously a crucial part of the judging, you can't just come and do Waterloo again. You need to have an original song. The contestants will perform their song in the semis and then again in the finals if they advance, and their performance has to be precisely the same with both. And so, if they win, it's not just Abba that wins it. It's Abba *with* their song Waterloo.

@@saxx9088 fair argument, and we really don't want much to do with it. There's a proposal for us to join in 2021, but it would actually be most centered around state competition, then national competition, then worldwide competition. Americans would be happy enough to beat each other in the state vs state competition that we would probably be ok with not winning the worldwide competition.

As long as a country is a member of the EBU, they are allowed to enter the competition; that's the only prerequisite. This rule also allows countries like Algeria, Libya and Egypt participate in the competition. Sounds a bit weird, right?
