I double checked the raw, and it never says anything about "all these years" in Japanese. Literally, Merlin just says that Escanor over exerted himself, and used up all his energy. That's probably where the mistranslation happened. Japanese man approved ^^

I think that the power increase ist not linear. Otherwise he could not be called "the incarnation of Power". I rather think its a curve. Starting low. Increase very slowly by maybe 5 or 10 and as noon aproach it skyrock to unknown heights. Think of the Suns cycle. In the Morning before everything heats up its much colder than the peak of the day. But the power is surely capped somewhere since I believe that neither the Demon King nor the Deity could give out powers that could destroy them in return.

Escanor's ability "Sunshine" is the Grace that was lost in the holy war, the original host of that power is Mael, one of the 4 archangels, but Mael died and his grace was lost an can never be found, but as Escanor was born, that grace was transmitted into him, which caused him to have the ability "Sunshine" :)

Technically you can hypothesize Escanor peak power level with some math 🤔 His at his lowest his power level is at 15, theres are 3600 seconds in an hour, so thats 21,600 seconds at Noon and each second is a 5 to his 15...i dont know where to go from here cause i multipled the 21,600 by 5 and that 108,000 so do i only add 15? cause thats only 108,015 and he has reached 114,00. Think you may have miscalculated, it's 43,200 seconds from Midnight till Noon. (43,200 seconds * 5 power level per second) + 15 base level = 216,015 power level at Noon. That's not to say that the one minute at Noon isn't also greatly amplified as well or that the rate per second doesn't change as the Sun rises higher (EG. 200 per second at 11:55am).

For all those who are wondering about the power level of "The One" Sun, on average, rises at 6:00, and it was around that time Merlin started to sense his power which started at 50,055 to 50,060. So taking an increase of 5(power level) per second, his power level can be calculated as Time of noon: 12:00 From sunrise to noon we have 6 hours. Every hour is equal to 3600 seconds. This time frame results in an increase of the power level by 5*3600*6=108000 p.s his base power level at sunrise, let's take 50055 as sensed by merlin.. That results in a total power level of, 108000 + 50055= 158055. But as exclaimed by Merlin, Escanor used up all the energy he had saved for god knows how many years.. From what I understand, Mael wasn't defeated during the Holy War, so much as he was split in two. Estarossa is the body of Mael, while Escanor got the power (or Grace, as it were) Apparently, Melodias wasn't the only member to betray the demon clan and the Ten Commandments. Gowther did too. Not the pink haired doll, the REAL/ORIGINAL Gowther. The real Gowther was the original commandment of Selflessness (as stated in the show) he was wheelchair-bound, and a VERY powerful wizard. (Likely above even Merlin) He was forced to become a commandment by the Demon King himself. Towards the end of the war, he used all his power to cast a VERY POWERFUL and forbidden spell that rewrote the memories, abilities, and entire life of the target. He chose to use it on Mael, and when he did, he ended up breaking him in two parts, the body (which became Estarossa), and the actual POWER which became Escanor. After that, they goddesses sealed the demon race in the coffin of eternal darkness. (But before that, Gowther made a doll that could function in the outside world and act as his eyes and ears in the world while he was imprisoned. But because he was sealed away before the doll was properly finished, and so the Gowther we know as the Sin of Lust was born) And that's all I know. Now, it's possible I'm wrong about this as I haven't gotten my hands on the manga yet and somehow I doubt the anime will ever get to this, so if I am wrong, I apologize.
