Living in Amsterdam has a ton of upside. I mean, we live in one fo the most storied capital cities in Europe! There is great bike infastructure. Top level public transit. Beautful parks. All sorts of culture and food. Endless list. However... it can loud. Lots of people is small space. Sometimes it feels amazing to take a break and leave the city. That's we do in this video.
We rented a cute little cabin in the province of Drenthe, near a village called Meppen. We drove about 2 hours northeast of Amsterdam for a really fun, and more importantly, peaceful weekend at this cabin in the woods.

If you went to the other park with a series of telescopes. There you also find a path that leads you along the planets of our solar system. They are around the same place of the WW2 camp if Westerbork. Did you try the local treat of Drentse droge worsten? A Dried meat sausage.

Great vlog. Thank you so much. Reminded me somewhat of you guys going to Schiermonnikoog. The Netherlands are a densely populated country but there are a few places left where you can enjoy the sound of silence and Drenthe is one of them. Looks like you came unprepared not only for the roasting of the marshmallows but also for your visit to the local Albert Heijn. No boodschappenlijstje? I'm sure Nate is a great cook but this dinner did not comply with our sacred Schijf van Vijf. The dessert was awesome though! You should trademark it. Because it is so quiet and and dark and silent in Drente, astronomy is a big thing there. Especially nowadays, the days of SETI. The search for Extra Terrestrial Intelligent life. Serious questions: do you think there is life on other planets? Have you got any idea how many other planets there are? What would be the implications be of a discovery of life elsewhere? You may not realise it, but Drenthe is playing a big role in this quest. But in the end, all that matters is that the dog and Katrina are happy. Have a nice day.

Nate replying... Katrina left me this week for California... New Duthc word aquired... boodschappenlijst. Almost German in it's mash up of words. ; -) I grew up obsessed with space. Had telescopes, books on astronomy, the whole thing. I am very hopeful that other intelligent life is out there. Hopefully they are more evolved and more peaceful that what we have going on here on Earth. I would love to see us discover something big that would really make some people question themselves and their beliefs! Thanks as always, and have a good one!

An other nice holiday parc with a lot of activities out and indoor Sportlandgoed in Zwartemeer Canadian Wood Cabins Or interesting to visit Smal spoor museum in Erica with lot of little trains and the history of peet (Nice in the summer)

i actually grew up in Drenthe, you pronounce it as DREN (this part is correct) and the "THE" is pronounced as "UHHH" making it "Drentuhh" like the uhhh sound when you are thinking. edit: You dont eat tompoes 'normal' but the easiest way is splitting it in half and eat each side, or cut of the top and put it at the bot,

For eating a tompouce, there are 4 well known options. 1. the easy way, just pick it up with your hands and go for it. 2. split the tompouce horizontal into 2 pieces, and flip the top and put it on top of the other one. 3. seperate the top part from the part below and eat the side below seperate from the side on top. 4. eat the middle part the first, thenn the rest . There are som variations but those are common. At the birthday party if you can choose from different kind of cakes and you want to have it easy sitting on a chair in a cirkle.... Dont pick the tompouce, dont pick the Bosschebol and dont pick the fruit patries with the hard bottom... :)

Drenthe is beautiful!! You could find some wild animals like wolves over there, they are living in Drenthe. Have fun in the Netherlands! You should be in Limburg or Noord Brabant now and celebrate carnaval, sort of Mardi Gras, but then 3 days long!

Thanks! Editing is done in Davinci Resolve. The free version is really amazing. We did update to the paid suite a while back and found that it renders a bit faster.

Drenthe? My grandmother came from the veenkoloniën over there, arguably the poorest region in the Netherlands. Born in a house made from peat bricks. Traditional (poor man's) Drenthe dishes include brown beans, bacon and potatoes.

there is no special way to eat a tompouse even we dutch make a mess, but the way i eat it is the best way there is. put the tompouse on it side then cut it down the middle in its length, if you do it correctly you will have two biscuits with both of the half with cream.

You can also scrape the yellow pudding with a spoon or fork when you have eaten the top cake and then eat the bottom cake. It's all about enjoying yourself while drinking coffee and being busy. For us it is a pleasure to see tourists busy with a Tompoes hahahaha. That their nose is completely covered in whipped cream and pudding Or that they take a bite and the pudding pops out between them. So funny.@@nateandkatrinadotheworld

Best way to eat tompouce (without taking the top off): Turn the tommyboy a quarter (90 degrees) so the glacing part is vertical, as so is the bottom ... (you see the pudding side on top). Then you can cut with a knife thru the pouce downwards thru the pastry without the pudding running out (making bitesize parts)... You can use fork or hands to put bitesize parts in mouth... chew... swallow... repeat.....
