They are metal but also still have a brain and flesh inside so even if the metal skeleton survived the brain wouldn't cause of the impact plus being electronic they most likely combust when hit the ground so hard. Anyways cyber controller needed those things plugged into him from his chair to stay alive so he was dying when he left his chair. Also not to mention he fell straight into a firey explosion as well.

*Spoilers* The thing that I love about this episode is the character development of Mickey. From idiot to hero etc, and it doesn't end here. In future episodes he's a hero in his own right, more and more as we see him until he finally leaves the show. Unlike Danny Pink. We barely get our heads wrapped around him when he randomly dies, then sacrifices himself. But by then he was so poorly developed that I didn't care. I didn't care that he died, I didn't care that Clara loved him, and I didn't care when he was a Cyberman.

Always thought Lumic would return - I know he falls into the burning but he’s metal, steel, somehow he could have survived with the right story - If Russell T Davies wrote a story with the cyber men further into the next couple of series it could have worked quite well. That would actually be a great idea for a story. Sure Roger Lloyd-Pack died recently, but since Cybermen mostly have synthesized voices, they can work around that. Pity that Moffat is working tirelessly to make it seem like the Russell T. Davies era never existed.

Actually, it wouldn't make much sense. Even if the Controller had somehow survived that fall, he would have to somehow survive the massive anti-Cyberman operations that took place on Pete's World, the invasion of our Universe and the battle with the Daleks, being sucked into the void, and being spat out at a random point in time and space. And after the Cybus Cybermen united with the original Mondasian ones, leading to the Cyberiad Cybermen we have now, the Controller would have to survive the (2nd?) Cyber-War, which resulted in the Cybermen being all but extinct. And seeing as we haven't seen him in any episodes since Age of Steel, it's a safe bet that he's dead.

Bryn Watkins Well concerning the aspects of sci-fi in this show, one could assume a man as intelligent as Lumic could've had some sort of back-up plan. Maybe his mind's been digitized and it's currently inactive midst the scores of data in the Cybermen's network. Like maybe this sort of tech was still in the development stages and he didn't have time to work on both that AND the Ultimate Upgrade plan. The thought of Cybermen being from Earth (parallel or not) just rings better with me as it serves better as a warning on what might happen concerning our increased dependence on sophisticated technology (something we didn't have during the Classic series, and no, no insult intended). Reverting back to the twin planet that just happened to evolve such a similar species just doesn't have the same ramifications of humanity working towards it own doom since it's basically just another alien species come to assimilate us.

I found this episode to be a widely ambitious reimagining of what made the Cybermen so popular to begin with. I personally found these Cybermen very scary and powerful, and are my personal favourites, way more so than the very robotic ones in Nightmare in Silver. I didn't mind the stomping as that reflected just how powerful these ones were. The only gripes I had with this episode was that the alternative universe aspect seemed unnecessary and Roger Lloyd-Pack's performance was way over the top.

I absolutely loved Nightmare in Silver. I don’t think it deserves the hate. In my opinion, Moffat handled the Cybermen much more faithfully to the classics than RTD did. Plus in my opinion the Moffat Cybermen are less annoying. Just my opinion, I respect yours as well. Just something I don’t understand, how was Matt Smith’s acting cringy? I mean it was a bit silly but I didn’t cringe. Maybe it’s just me.

@@cameronjosephvideos5942 Honestly, from the RTD era my favourite Cybermen story was the Next Doctor, a special that IMO doesn't deserve the hate that it gets (which at the time I reckon came largely from the fake-out, given people's anticipation for the 11th Doctor reveal at the time). The Cybermen act like those of old in that they start off on the back foot lurking in the shadows with an evil scheme that is probably a little convoluted and they actually lie to and manipulate people! They remembered that the Cybermen aren't just mindless drones. Also, that moment with them emerging out of the mist in the graveyard to stun the factory owners was dope, I don't care what anyone says.

***** Uhuh. I used to like Blink until Moffat decided that Weeping Angels can make up powers for plot convenience in every new episode focusing on them. Moffat can't write female characters. Moffat disses gay characters. Moffat ignores the rules of the Doctor Who Universe regarding time travel. Moffat doesn't make characters actual characters but walking plot devices where their presence is more central than their personalities, traits and whatever makes a character an actual character. Heck, he can't even make a storyline fit a single season. In the end, series 5-7 were a jumbled MESS. Frankly, all the best episodes of those series are the ones not written by Moffat (except Nightmare in Silver but that was due to his interference). And series 8 is already off to a bad start with an awful, indecisive first episode and at best a passable second episode (got rid of the bloody color-coordinated Dalek design at least).

***** I've written an entire review on series 5 through 7 in great detail, so here's just the juicy bits: 1. The Doctor is the center of everything: The Doctor is treated like him and his identity in themselves are the Alpha and Omega with the Silence plot. He's not the renegade Time Lord traveling for his bizarre curiosity's sake. 2. Every SINGLE female companion is physically attracted to the Doctor and wants him as their boyfriend. Yea I know series 1-3 had that, but with Rose Tyler it developed gradually, like a real relationship. And with Martha Jones she simply grew out of a crush. Heck, Amy and Clara only seem to have any real meaning if they have a man. This is why Donna Noble was my favorite companion; she was along the ride as a simply traveling buddy. 3. River Song is the plot of Series 6 and Clara is the ultimate retcon regarding the entire series, Classic and Revived combined with the Great Intelligence sub-plot. They might as well be robots. 4. Moffat doesn't understand true grief; aside from a few flukes, most of the major deaths in his series are not deaths in the traditional sense; Weeping Angels generally don't kill you, they make you live your life in the past. River Song sacrificed herself, only to have her mind downloaded into a supercomputer where everything is at her beck and call. Clara Oswald dies twice, and then she's somehow alive again. 5. And this is the kicker. He destroyed the entire premise of the revived series as the Doctor being the sole survivor of his species, therefore once again robbing the series of true grief and pissing on tragedy when he brought back Gallifrey. Not only that, they successfully altered time when it was meant to be impossible. Heck, if Gallifrey does get freed from the pocket dimension, it'd rip the Universe to shreds. They even emphasized on the finality of time-locked events in The Waters of Mars on how some events can't be changed due to their significance. As for series 8 Episode 1 doesn't know what is wants to be about: A dinosaur in London? The Doctor's identity crisis? Clara's pining that the Doctor's now old looking? Or clockwork robots from an earlier episode I also disliked? Episode 2 implies Daleks could just be re-tuned to be good by affecting their tank's data-storage. Why has it taken THIS long for that to actually occur or to figure that out? And Clara wants a new sexy man in her life since she's a woman. Real cute.

NeoDragonCount For 4. Russel T did this too. Rose Tyler didn't die but was sent to a parallel Earth, but was treated like a death. Donna Noble sorta 'died' as her memory of her time with the Doctor was erased, but didn't truly die (even though in End of Time she remembered the Doctor but didn't die for some reason). For 5. Russel T destroyed the entire concept of the cybermen. It would have been fine if they were building up a return for the true Mondas cybermen, but no. Moffat fixed this however. (Also the series 8 finale !SPOILERS! was also rather depressing and full of grief, even if Osgood is 'seemingly' coming back). I think the The End of Time basically sums up everything wrong with the RTD era, with an overly emotional end to a Doctor that ended up being a stroppy child by the end. Yeah, all that build up of character development for the Doctor as a strong 'oncoming storm' (insert near end of The Family of Blood here too) ended with 'I don't want to go'! Sure there are problems with Moffats era (some of which you listed) but Russel T was just as bad (if not worse if you go into detail). Plus the most memorable episodes from RTD's run was from Moffat.

LesserWhovian Oh, like how he was boasting about getting it good with Madame de Pompadour to his companions who were about to be harvested? Also the Doctor was dying. We know he doesn't technically die since he'd just regenerate, but as he states in the previous episode; regenerating is pretty much like dying whilst someone else (another personality) takes over your body and your current mind is pretty much lost. Yea; shocking that he might be scared and have regrets. Oh I forgot; having emotions is apparently BAD.

I think that's one of my few problems with this story. Imagine how much more affective it would have been if Mickey had stayed on what we knew was a doomed world. Then again, they would have had to bring back the ski-mask Cybermen, and I'm not sure if modern audiences would have taken them seriously.

but i loved that last few mins! the message was perfect! No matter how scary or ugly things are they still love and deserve compassion. Thats the entire POINT of the show! I loved all the recent eps, Nightmare in Silver scared the hell out of me, the Crimson Horror was meh but i didn't mind the puppet monster on her chest. Rings of Akhaten was my FAVE and i didn't mind Cold War, didn't like the Ice Warrior's actual face.. bad bad
